I have been having issues over the last month with Sync 3.4 Build 22251 settings changing back to default.

I set SiriusXM to show 6 pages and it will default back to 2 pages.

My Vehicle Hotspot indicates that it is not enabled.

I called Ford Pass and they worked me through a master reset. This brought back the Vehicle Hotspot. Other settings are still defaulting and being changed.

I found the following on Cyan Labs regarding this issue.

WARNING - STORAGE ISSUE ON 3.4.22251
There is an ongoing issue where rwdata partition is getting full, triggering some issues like settings going back to defaults and/or problems with upgrading to a different version. Check these threads for reference and workarounds:

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Have not personally seen that storage issue. I have not switched to using cyanlabs because the Ford website to USB Device Sync update method works reasonably well but cyanlabs does have a wealth of information (although it requires much patience to wade through all the incorrect and misleading info posted by individuals that did not vet their info or validate it for correctness).

I will look over the cyanlabs info on the storage issue you posted but was there anything posted yet on the root cause for the filling up the rwdata partition?

I only use official Ford downloads to update Sync.

I found this on Cyan Labs.

You stated you contacted FordPass and I recommend you get a case open with the SYNC3: Connected Services Team
+1 (833) 389-0848 if you havenā€™t done that yet.

This IVT Research Escalation Specialist was extremely helpful to me when I had issues with another software upgrade but you will have to push to get your specific issue into the Ford Sync 3 software engineering team and itā€™s not easy to accomplish that without a IVT Research Escalation Specialist working on your behalf.

I have scanned over the cyanlabs info and will read in detail later.. while your symptoms do correlate somewhat with the cyanlabs info, I have a suspicion that the filling up the rwdata partition is caused by the cyanlabs installation or their other software. But I do not know yet so itā€™s just a suspicion.

Ok I read over the cyanlabs info. I think you are heading towards getting your dealership to replace your APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).

this is one of the main modules for Sync 3 but there maybe another module causing your issues as well.

suggest you keep pushing to get your dealership to do that.

Just my opinion. Get other opinions as well.

The issue may be lack of memory or storage as logs are being created that are reducing available space.
I do not believe this is a hardware issue.

Yes your logic is sound however (1) this issue would be reported by far more Owners that have SYNC 3.4 Build 22251 installed by Ford Factory or via use of the Ford Website (that is, not cyanlabs) and (2) others have posted they have problems similar to what you reported and dealership replacing the APIM (and or possibly another Sync Module) 100% solved their issues.

Contacting the IVT Specialist will give you info on others that have the problem you reported and how Ford addressed their issues. Ford maintains a database and the IVT Specialist can research for you.

Yes but are those issues (via filling up the rwdata partition) caused by the cyanlabs installation or their other software? I donā€™t know yet but I have suspicions.

Now since you did not use cyanlabs but have 22251 installed like many of the rest of us (or from the factory like many others), your issues point at possible other causes.

I will again look for 22251 issues that are not related to cyanlabs and may even contact the Sync 3 Team myself to ask.

@thomasm23 ā€¦ check out this article ā€œSync 3 Memory Issueā€, it is not Bronco Sport specific since it is about different Ford vehicles all with 22251 and as far as I can tell all upgraded same as you (that is, not cyanlabs). I didnā€™t read every post but saw several ā€˜dealership replaced APIM, problem solvedā€™ comments which corresponds to the dozen or so Bronco Sport owners that said the same when they had issues with Sync 22251 like you reported.

donā€™t read too far as the article switches gears from Sync 3 to Sync 4 issues.

https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-3-memory-issue-538739/

anyway just more food for thought.

@thomasm23 one other thing which might not work but have you performed the key cycle procedure?

i did this procedure for both my Sync 22251 update and the Nav software update because Ford pushes the concept of doing this procedure.

I have found 2 key cycle procedures:

Perform a Key Cycle:
https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/sync/troubleshooting/how-do-i-perform-a-key-cycle/
1. Turn off vehicle.
2. Open drivers door.
3. Lock drivers door (electrical pushbutton).
4. Close drivers door.
5. Start vehicle (will hear 2 beeps).
6. Wait two minutes for completion and ensure the radio display turns off completely.

Alternative key cycle procedure:
. Stop driving
. Ignition OFF / Stop
. Open and close driver's door and lock it
. Wait at least 2 minutes (ensure SYNC Display shuts off)
. Unlock / open driver's door
. Ignition ON / Start

Yes, I performed a Key Cycle. This was part of the master reset. Ford Pass tech had me do master reset, then Key Cycle, then re-pair Ford Pass app to vehicle.

I originally talked to Ford Sync tech support. They then transferred me to Ford Pass tech support to do a master reset.

I still feel this is due to Build 22251 and the excessive logs that are being created. No previous Build had this issue.

Many times the dealer just gives up and replaces parts. My vehicle is out of warranty. Ford may be readying a new Build to address this issue.

I feel there are more vehicles on this forum that are experiencing this issue, but are unaware that it is happening.

Found the following:

https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/new-sync-version-3-4-23088.502652/

Someone took a screen shot of below. Not my vehicle.

Ford Bronco Sport Sync 3.4 Build 22251 Default Issue IMG_3709
EDIT 2023-MAY-07
Continue reading this post and follow-on posts. There maybe an issue with SYNC Version 3.4 Build 23088 (or other updates) that may corrupt the Sync software installed on the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

TSB 22-2254 SYNC 3 - Various SYNC Symptoms, SYNC Screen Flicker, Echo/Robotic Voice Concerns, Temperature Not Displayed In Pop Up Screen
https://community.cyanlabs.net/uploads/short-url/xzlS3pmnyk4POB8ROhWjOu1fqOk.pdf

Recommend using the 8ā€ Display under Settings to disable automatic software updates. Instead manually install your own updates over USB ā€œawhileā€ after a Sync 3.4 update comes out after checking to be sure there arenā€™t issues with the update.

FYI, this cyanlabs post claims 23088 is same as 22251
https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/new-sync-3-version-3-4-23088-still-3-4-22251-actually/8954

Unedited post continues:
And as I said you arenā€™t the only one ā€¦ Iā€™ve seen over a dozen stating the same issues you are having. Maybe just coincidental ā€¦ all had their APIMs replaced ā€¦ hey who knows maybe only needed the Sync software reflashed onto their original APIM.

I checked Ford website for an update for my Bronco Sport but it only offers up 22251.
