A soft reset works. But it keeps reoccurring.
geez it just gets worse ? and still no ETA from Ford for a fix. I noticed this is nearly the only thread where the Ford internet team will not chime in with their usual … ‘please send us your VIN message’. They know it can’t help.

Multiple SYNC issues on my Escape. Hoping ETA for fix is soon. Dealer has tried three times to address issues.

I can see that there are a ton of people with this same problem. Including me. What is the best course of action (right now) for this issue?

Do I call the dealer and have them check it out, or wait for the fix from Ford?

It doesn't seem like Ford is paying attention to the forums: Bronco Sport, Maverick, F-150, etc.

This is definitely annoying!!!

You should call Ford and report the issue:

SYNC3 Connected Services Team
+1 (833) 389-0848

That number is used for lots of issues so they can answer with various titles, etc.

describe the issues you are having and tell them to create a case #.

after a few days that go by, call back and ask to be transferred to an escalation specialist. Keep on bugging the escalation specialist for resolution or at least an ETA (when I called last week there is still no ETA for a fix to Sync 22251).

alternatively you can create a private message to @Ford Motor Company and provide your info and ask them to create the case # for you. The internet team is very good at getting the case # created but you should not expect the internet team will have ability to solve a software issue - with Sync software issues, that is Ford’s software team (sometimes knows as the SYNC3 Connected Services Team).

I know Ford is about to release the next update for the sync navigation, but haven’t heard mention about the latest sync being released. I know it is not suggested to replace the APIM module but might have to due to FordPass not working and also getting a check engine light regarding my EGR Valve Sensor. There are so many electronics inside these cars so it’s super hard to decipher what’s exactly wrong. Hopefully, once I get that replaced I’ll have to update y’all, but understand that these issues could potentially be on the latest version but I’m not sure until I fix it, and then will have to report back on the form.

@Dude

I called Ford Connected Services today, and they were not very helpful. I reported my issue, and was just told that they are aware of the issue, and working on a fix.

The CSR said that the fix should be out by late September. I then asked if there were any known "workarounds", and told "No". "Sorry, you will just have to live with it."

Great customer service from Ford.

Ford says there is ^no^ fix currently available. What else could Ford do to improve your impression of its service?

Many people have had the Sync 22251 issue for 4–5 months now. That’s a long time to live with these. It’s made more unacceptable because Cyan Labs released the Sync 23088 update in May. Ford could have packaged the 23088 release but in my opinion the Ford software team works off a priority list and the Sync 22251 issues (which impact many Ford models not just the BS) have not bubbled up the priority list. Obviously that’s just my opinion as I have no direct knowledge of Ford’s priorities.

I am not sure the APIM relates to all of your issues but let us know after the issues are fixed.

Ok, help me out here. I've turned off auto updates on my 5/23 build. Didn't have any issues in the short time I owned my BS. Should I turn auto updates back on?

Two part answer

Part 1: In my opinion no .. at least not yet. Leaving auto updates off prevents Sync 22251 from being automatically installed. I explained the pros and cons of auto updates being off in an earlier post.

Part 2: go to the 8” screen, select Settings and find which Sync version is installed. If your 5/23 build already has Sync 22251 installed, then consider re-enabling automatic software updates if you want that. (I explained the pros and cons of auto updates being off in an earlier post.)

The original reason to leave auto updates off was due to a BOGUS 23088 release that made its way onto unsuspecting Ford models back in April/May 2023. Ford pulled the BOGUS 23088 release and 23088 didn’t seem to make it to any BS but i have no way to know that for sure.

if still not clear let me know.

@Mark S. That’s not my post but was there a typo in your “Ford says there is fix currently available” response? I am not aware of a fix for the issue that dparleng refers to and I reread that post which to me says there is no fix currently available.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the Sync 22251. I had auto updates on the first few weeks after buying the BS. Read a few things here and shut off the auto update option. Just put the auto updates back on. We'll see what happens if anything.

Well … unrelated to you putting auto software updates back on, you may eventually see the Sync 22251 issues that are being reported on (which Ford is aware of).

Use of CarPlay or Android Auto is reported to increase chances of having the Sync 22251 issues.

it is unknown to me if all Bronco Sports with Sync 22251 will exhibit the issues.

Unlike the wife's HR-V, the BS doesn't have wireless Android Auto, so I'll just use the OEM system Nav if needed.
