Side Door molding installed incorrectly

Looking for some advice on how you would handle this situation

I purchased a 2022 Bronco Sport in July 2022 and had the dealership install the side molding at time of purchase. The side moldings were installed in the incorrect position in the rear. This has caused the rear side moldings to rub on the front doors down to bare metal. I am finally claiming a warrenty repair to have the parts corrected.

Today the dealership attempted an unsatisfactory repair. All they did was adjust the rear doors. The rear doors no longer align correctly and the door gaps look terrible.

Multiple service people at the dealership mentioned the parts would be removed and repositioned. This was the repair I was expecting.

I am extremely disappointed in Ford and waiting to hear how the dealership plans on fixing this.

If you are referring to the black body side molding accessory add ons, those are usually put on by the local dealer and they are just held in place by some 3m double sided tape. It's a dealership install issue.

My brother installed mine and something must have shifted because when I open the rear passenger door, the molding “pops” on the edge of the front door. He said he can just trim that edge to fix it — no need to try to move the molding, much less CHANGE THE DOOR ALIGNMENT. It’s wild they thought that would be a smart way to fix it.

The dealership was approached twice prior to my booking the appointment. Now they are denying they approved the repair. I only booked after it was confirmed it would be covered.

Least they can do is put the door adjustment back. While I see the possible use for those side moldings - I think they are pretty ugly. Doors back and moldings gone would be my solution one way or the other. DIY - Body shop - Dealer.

They have agreed to replace the mouldings and realign the doors. The remaining issue is how the front door edges will repainted. They would like to touch up paint the areas.

Repair is a fail. Mid-town ford did not align the parts correctly and looks very amateur install. Looks like a rush job and no install templates used. I will give them one last chance to rectify this but pursuing legal options.

That's jacked up. They aren't hard to put on properly with a little patience and some tape as a guide. My wife and I put mine on one afternoon without any issues. They should be able to do the same at the dealership.

Any good shop will use small diameter tape as a level to apply door molding straight. They failed.

And then adjust a door (albeit way out in the way of door gap) to cover up their mistake of having two pieces too close together?

This is why I’m always hesitant to pay the dealership to install things like this. When I worked at a tractor dealer they had me as the new guy do all of the easy stuff, and part of learning is screwing up. The difference is the tractor dealer didn’t have 100 tractors needing to get done yesterday lol. So I could take as much time as I needed and make sure it was done correctly. I imagine these car dealership techs that are new are expected to fly through these cause there’s not enough time in the day to get all the others done.
Either this is pure laziness and blatant disrespect to the customer, or a new tech that has been left to his own devices with no proper guidance and is doing their best with what they know.
