It amazes me that you can buy a new car and then just blithely pull it all apart and fiddle with the wires, etc.
ive been doing this for a while lol

What is a side hood guard?
the weather seals on the underside of the hood, they were missing from this new one. so was the upper cover on the passenger side fuse box, but i grabbed that from the big bend.

Thanks for your answer!

Would the weather seals keep the hood from rattling at highway speeds? Maybe mine is missing those too?

i think somewhat just by blocking some wind. any little bit probably helps. running the length of fuel line through the seal on the back helps a lot.

I received some parts and didn't open the box for like 3 days, had a weird kind of bullocks day at work and decided i should do something fun. Opened package and tested factory power and immediately heard and smelled the circuits fry. Here's my attempt at re inventing.

any ideas what I'm working on next?

you're close, and that is coming. this is a feature not available on factory badlands
I have OB and mine didn't have any light in the cubby area, this is mine now.

Had time to tinker with this. Also checked on the car and it indeed does not have the appropriate harness for this feature. So no big deal. I'm sure this blue will match the other blue accents unlike the factory leds would have anyways.

The phone mounts from tackform I got were rattling unless there was a phone in them even in closed position. I emailed them and apparently they were trying out a different style that had the adjustable base. They ended up shipping me 2 of the standard QI holders for free. Much better quality than before, quiet, more sturdy, and they even have blue back lighting.

Other than that, been playing with fiberglass today.

Well I finally found all the rattles that were driving me absolutely insane. Showed up after about 1000 miles.

This module whatever it is labeled trunk antenna, it was a bit loose on its mounting points so i put some foam on the underside and pushed it back into place. Also put foam over the top just incase.

Same with these other harness clips and the hose for the rear washer nozzle.

And another harness clip on the passenger side

The clip on the power for the third brake light has a loose fit and rattles. I got a piece of electrical tape and put it only around the back side of the red male input. And it snugged up.

On the passenger side behind the top D pillar trim there was a hose with what looked like a hard plastic check valve, also the plastic wire loom was causing rattling
Ford Bronco Sport Quashish Family Ride Thread : 2024 Badlands 20241102_144713

But the final one I found was the plastic cover over the rear hatch latching mechanism. I removed and put some generous dabs of silicone on the inside of that cover and re installed

Not pictured is where I applied squares of gorilla tape over the metal inserts that the 4 screws for the grab handles thread into.
For good measure I added some padding on the inside of the hatch panel coverings as well. The screws went through the foam and gorilla tape just fine.

also foamed in between the harness clip for the rear hatch floodlights and it’s mounting point.

Also this random blank cover is loose. Removed and electrical tape around all of the tabs and pushed back into place.

i didn't get a picture of them but there was a few clips i wrapped electrical tape around the clip base between the plastic and metal hatch where it goes in to stop them from wiggling. there was some other clips i removed entirely because they rattled in place like crazy, i just used gorilla tape to secure the wire loom to the inside of the hatch in those places.

I think that's all of them.

Finally sweet silence!!!

Now I can focus back on the pocket light

I tried to get the lower leds lined up with eachother but whatever I guess. Won't be able to see this piece unless you look for it.

First time playing with fiberglass resin. So probably took longer than necessary, would've been easier with a vacuum bag system. Either way, here's what I've got so far, 3 leds forward facing In a piece that will mount with 3M double sided tape to the deep inside of the center console pocket. I was thinking of wrapping it in suede, might paint it. Still not sure.
Here it is after fiberglass, resin, and bondo, final sanding and then a coat of resin brushed on.

I'm leaning toward wrapping it in suede, because it's faster, but paint matching to ext. colour would be cleaner. Not that it would ever be seen.... what do you all think?
