I think they were invented for gloves, but you needed the gloves to go use the hand crank to turn over the motor and start the thing.

I prefer a pencil, but I'm also half remembering a story about NASA spending ungodly amounts of money to develop a pen that would work in zero gravity. However, the Soviet Union just gave their cosmonauts pencils. Some would call me a "space cadet" but I guess I'm really a "cosmonaut".

Can't believe this thread has lasted so long and garnered so much attention. Easy resolution requing a pencil and two pieces of velcro. Problem solved. For a minor fee, I will happily provide installation instructions.?

Yes, please create a YouTube vid to show those in need of this pencil holder how it can be done.

Although a role of Velcro may cost more than the holder.
