I prefer a pencil, but I'm also half remembering a story about NASA spending ungodly amounts of money to develop a pen that would work in zero gravity. However, the Soviet Union just gave their cosmonauts pencils. Some would call me a "space cadet" but I guess I'm really a "cosmonaut".

All this talk of pencils is bringing back memories of my childhood. When I was in first grade, we were issued large blue pencils and told to practice writing our first name neatly on paper, staying between the lines. I complained to the teacher that my hand was too small to hold the large blue pencil, and asked if I could use a "normal" yellow #2 pencil. She sent a note home with me that my parents had to sign, stating I was being a smart ass.

I thought I was being logical.
You think you had problems. Try being left handed and writing with a fountain pen .Smeared paper and permanently ink stained hand.?

I've had my '22 Badlands for about 15 months and just now learned that I have this HIGHLY VALUED accessory! Pondering... how have I survived this long without taking advantage of this?

You may have survived, but you haven’t lived…

At least one other has reported that the clip is not strong enough to hold a tire gauge competently. I guess it will hold for some amount of time but eventually lets go. Maybe heat is involved in the failure? Good luck with it staying there. My fingers are crossed for you.

Maybe if that happens, you can squeeze the sides to tighten and get more time with it holding. The piece seems to be rubber.

This why glove compartments were invented. They're not for gloves,

Gee, certainly worth the 3 to 5 bucks spent to buy one.

I can understand why Ford dropped installing them; add up all the broncos built and multiply that by 3 to 4 bucks, and they have a significant savings in parts cost, not to mention the labor costs to snap it in on the assembly line.

It’s entirely possible this item was another victim of supply chain issues. IIRC, there were many, many cargo ships from China sitting in the water of the CA coast for months waiting for someone to unload them. I imagine all manufacturers are struggling with decisions regarding which features to keep that might be affected by future supply issues. My guess is once the console lid assemblies that include a slot for a pencil holder are used up it too will disappear.

Gasp! How will we survive with these potential shortages of a pencil holder for our center console?

Can't believe this thread has lasted so long and garnered so much attention. Easy resolution requing a pencil and two pieces of velcro. Problem solved. For a minor fee, I will happily provide installation instructions.?
