Old vs new

I currently have a '23 OBX with the 1.5 engine. I haven't had any problems and the mileage is great. I'm thinking about trading for a newer OBX. What is the big difference between my '23 engine and the newer one. What are the pros and cons of upgrading to the new motor?

Really not much….the 25 refresh is a bit lacking imo! Only the interior was sort of refreshed but they got rid of the climate buttons.

yeah the new MPC engine...haven't seen any meaninful performance improvements - jury is still out there on what this means long term. Even Ford didn't really share much about it...

IMO unless you want to get Sasquatch Package or upgrade to a Badlands there doesn’t seem to be much reason to trade in for a ‘25 UNLESS you like the refreshed look with the larger infotainment screen, new front bumper, interior designs, etc.

Considering that your OBX is only 2 model years old unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade now I would wait a model year to see how the new engines shake out. Then talk to someone you trust at your dealer service department to find out what issues they are seeing regarding the new engines, if any,

No matter how much engineering and testing Ford (or any other manufacturer) may have done to the new engines it is no match for real world use by the customer. I am sure Ford did not plan on having engine recalls related to the water pump and fuel injection on the current engine.

You might also want to see if you could find a 25 model year to drive for more than a few minutes to see if you would be happy with the new engine and the model year changes in general. Maybe the dealer has loaners that they use for the service department that you could drive for a couple of hours.

Maybe it's just because it's foreign to me but I prefer the old cluster screen on my Bronco more than the new one.
Same with the infotainment system.
Not a fan of touchscreens and tech overload in cars though

Sync 4 is far superior to 3 and you can use voice commands, for most of the knobs you think you'll miss.

I agree with this. I think physical cluster gauges suit the Bronco Sport better and I prefer the smaller screen as well.

I haven't sat in a '25 though so maybe the layout around the infotainment screen makes the bigger screen a little more tolerable?

I drove a '24 Expedition for 3 weeks and a '24 Escape for 5 days, both have the big infoscreen and touch controls. I personally am not a fan. However, that being said, it's the way of the world of autos. At some point, we'll all have to learn to navigate this technology. Unless we keep our older models until the end... Or maybe, 20 years or so down the road, someone will come up with a "retro" design idea for a new model that won't have any electronics! Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Yep. I came from an 01 F150, into a 23. The closest thing it had to high tech, was anti lock rear brakes and an anti theft system. My Wife came from an 02 Jeep to her 24 BL.. Even less tech.

At some point, you have to embrace the suck, or be left behind.
