I was thinking the same yesterday when I read this thread. After researching a couple different options, like Yokohama, BFGoodrich, etc. I’m still leaning towards the Falkens even with the extra weight of the new 4 series. I’m also looking to get some new wheels, so may just adjust my search terms and go for something that’s either flow formed or forged to help make up the weight difference. Was really about to make the move from 235/65 17 AT3’s to a 245 AT4 - but this has me hesitating now with with 10lbs per tire increase in weight. Not so sure I want to be the early adopter….
The Falken WP AT3 has been such a great tire for my BS and hits all areas of performance that I would be concerned with but was considering something with a little bulkier sidewall. Now, with the release of the AT4 they have made nearly my perfect tire.
It will cost a bit more to go flow formed or forged, but in the end tires are the most critical part of a car for me.
