GM discontinuing CarPlay, Android Auto

Another negative that I thought about regarding discontinuing CarPlay and Android access is that we are renting a car in a few weeks and it very likely could be a Chevy Equinox. I may be wrong about this but I am expecting to be able to add my phone to the cars system and use CarPlay for navigation directions instead of paying an additional fee for navigation on the rental car.

The article says earliest models will be MY28. You're fine for several more years.

You should be able to do that. Every rent car I’ve had, Nissan, GM, Ford, I’ve been able to pair my phone into that car.

It's all about the money. I guess I'm grateful that I'm in my 70s and most likely am done buying cars. I don't see more than one more vehicle purchase in my future.

Yeah, the consumers will decide if removing Carplay is a smart move. I remember a product called "New Coke" that caused a huge headache for Coca Cola.
