So noticed the front wheel well has a fabric liner, wondering if the mud flaps actually help, or there is an aftermarket plastic liner like the rear wheel well. I understand noise dampening reasons, but wheeling or snow seems not so great with a fabric liner.

I have had these on several vehicles and they have presented no issues of any kind. I also have seen no issues with mud flaps, car washes, etc that would be related to their fabric construction.

I find it harder to clean sticky mud off those fabric liners

I’m not aware of any commercially available replacement. I do agree that frozen slush is a pita to remove before pulling into the garage with the fabric liners. The mud flaps do not make the liner any easier to clean.

Has anyone tried spray-on bed liner or FlexSeal spray (rubberized coating) on the fabric liners? I know some one mentioned it ages ago on the forum, but never heard of anyone actually doing it. I keep toying with the idea, but haven’t gotten up the guts to try.

That sounds like a great idea. The only issue I see would be that the added weight might be too much for the fasteners that hold up the liners.

They do however hold water, snow, slush and ice as is, so it might not be a problem.

Or possibly a few coats of spray paint? If you could get a smooth (ish) finish the crud might knock off a little easier.

These fuzzy liners are almost standard now. I have them on at least two other branded vehicles, and on another forum for one of those vehicles, I think someone tried this idea. I don't recall the outcome, but it also seemed like a good idea to me.

I get the desire to improve NVH, but I don't understand why they didn't put the fuzz on the inside instead of the outside. For one of my other vehicles, they DO make liners without the fuzz and they've been in my cart for a while - I'm seriously tempted to swap them out for all the reasons mentioned here. It's incredible how much dirt and mud they can hold on to. It takes forever to rinse it all out and the worst part is they look like complete crap if you don't. The wheel wells look brown! What a horrible idea. I told myself I wouldn't buy another vehicle with these, but the Bronco sport checked just about every other box so I caved.

The coding is actually felt. Felt is a very good noise damper. I just picked up my BS on Friday and the first thing I did was coat those wheel wells with a good coating of fluid film. Nothing sticks. Same thing I used to do to the regular hard plastic liners on any other vehicle.

Interesting that this pop up today. I had one come off yesterday. It came off in one piece, I threw it in the back of the vehicle. I may try to reinstall it, but maybe need a body shop.

My 22 OBX had to same felt stuff. Traded up for the badlands sasquatch. The badlands model has actual plastic rather than the felt

My BL has the felt and although they clean off when washed its the packing which is considerable under the right circumstances in fridgid weather that could apply excessive pressure and cause damage. If I dont clean them before Im home for the evening once it cools off even more that packed snow may become ice, just a concern having lived in an even colder region than I now do.
I have read elsewhere silicone spray will help keep stuff frrom sticking so as soon as I get a dry day I will apply some.
Jabbing away with a stick trying to clean packed snow inside the wheel well isnt that easy and cold plastic has is own characteristics.

Maybe they tricked you. I double checked mine.
No tricking, just what's on it. The rear has the plastic. The Front is supposed to be a plastic polymer with a fuzzy texture from.what I've read. For noise reduction.
