Hi, I had the same issue and after reading this post I went ahead and did to my BB, the flapping noise was driving me crazy, I was not able to pull the whole panel out but I was able to pull it out a bit to fit my hand to push the felt liner, it did reduce the noise significantly but later in the week I am going to do it again until it is completely quiet.

Thanks for the post!

I’m having the same issue. I fixed the driver side. Can you explain the passenger side please? I opened the passenger side and it has two pins in it.

Can you please explain moving it down?

Thank you.

remove those three fasteners clips and move that foam down onto that vent, ended using just one clip. Sorry I don't have a photo on that side.

I don't think you have that on the BS with the B&O woofer there.

Thanks a lot everyone, I did found the actual flapping noise, I took the whole panel out it wasn't that hard but No need to take the entire panel out to do this, there is two quarter panel vents one located on driver side and other passenger side vents are hidden below I circled in red first picture, all I did is to move the foam inward pushing it in toward the vent yes I did cover the vent with this factory foam and for the passenger side foam sits too high up had to relocate it down, took it for a test drive and no more flapping noise.
Video shows vent flapping around but did not made any noise because I had the panel off only with panel back on it will make this noise again.

You said there was no need to remove the entire panel to do this fix, is there an easier way without taking the entire panel out? Mine does it as well. Dealership said that Ford engineers are working on a fix lol. I'd rather just fix myself than wait who knows how long. I have a Big Bend and it flaps over 40 mph as well. Thanks

There no other quick way to do this those side panels grill are not removable the top can be removed it's too small to reach down there.
On post #27 I showed all the retaining clips that needs to removed and fold down the seats just enough room to get your hand in there, removing the entire panel out requires seat removal and some other plastic pieces to be removed. This post was posted over a year ago I'm sure there might be a bulletin out there that dealer uses to fix this issue Good luck.

At first I pushed in that factory insulation pad, out helped but not gone. I ended up stuffing a bunch of old pillow stuffing into those cavities by those rear vents. No more flapping noise at all.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to pull away the bottom of the panel and get my hand in there. I guess they install the foam in front of that wire that runs down so i pushed it behind the wire against the vent. Fixed the issue. Thanks again.

This does not fix the issue, it just muffles it. The flap flaps outward (pressure relief when doors are shut with windows rolled up). To repair, something needs to do against the flap on the outside. Kind of like a retainer spring on your kitchen vent hood exhaust that helps keep critters and such out, but not so strong it won’t open when the fan is activated. I work for a Ford dealer network and am in discussions with one of our shop guys now. If he doesn’t have a fix in mind I’ll see if I can develop a retainer then can be easily installed. Will report back in a bit….

I had just given up on trying to find a solution.
Definitely eager to hear back if you figure something out.

SSM 51100 2021-2022 Bronco Sport - Rattle Or Flapping Noise From The Rear Air Duct Vents

Some 2021-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles may exhibit a rattle or flapping noise coming from the rear air duct vents while driving. This may be due to the normal operation of the rear air duct vents.

To determine if this is a normal condition, perform a road test at 40 MPH (65 Km/h) or above. Inspect if the noise is coming from the rear vents.

During the road test alternate air conditioning (A/C) between fresh mode and air re-circulation mode. If the noise is eliminated when the A/C is in fresh mode, this is considered a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed.

(FYI: Rumored to be fixed in 2023 models or maybe SSM 51100 or another SSM just hasn’t been updated or created for 2023 models)

Ok so I talked to my guy - my recall was ready to be done so they did that today and they also extensively looked at the flapping sound. They found several loose bolts in the cargo area. That’s as much detail as I could get just picking the car up just now at near closing time….! But, the drive home revealed that whatever they did in no way fixed anything. I’ll talk to my guy again Monday (and I’ll also look at the fresh/recirculate thing someone just posted). But, disappointed at the moment….
