Be that as it may, after turning the battery off and waiting a couple hours for surface charge to subside, I have never measured a value in excess of 12.48V using a battery tester. Post recall I measured 12.45v.

80% would be 12.5V on AGM/EFB. 100% SoC would be 13V.

Best I can tell, the BCM's 80% SoC parameter is being heeded.

This is anecdotal, but consistent with the pre-recall battery charging behavior.
That’s a good data point, thanks for sharing.

As sajohnson, said above in Post #84 “Ideally, lead-acid batteries are kept at 100% SOC”.

Given the battery issues some owners have reported what would be the reason Ford engineers set the max at 80%?

There is also this: “The most important factor is to ensure the battery voltage set points are suitable so the battery is reaching 100% SOC occasionally, and to keep the depth of discharge as low as possible”.

Perhaps the 80% is used but without much more data we can’t say for sure that the BMS doesn’t allow the “battery to reach 100% SOC occasionally”.

Remember, we know virtually nothing about the BMSs algorithms.

Had the recall performed today, 24 Jun. Took about an hour. Only time will tell and true be told we never had an issue as when not in use I have it hooked up to a charger. Do this for our MY22 Ranger too.

Only post install issue I had was needed to do a SYNC RESET to PAIR the cell phones.

Just got the 24S24 recall done and when I was driving home, I noticed that my Thinkware 1000U wasn't working. It was working when I drove to the dealer this morning. It's hooked up directly to the fuse box. Any thoughts as to what they did to it or what happened? Thanks!!!

Is there an inline fuse on the power wire? Most fuse taps include a fuse on the tap. Have you checked it?

I haven't checked as I had to get back to work. Plus, I had a stereo/car alarm place install the dash cam so all I know is that it's connected to the fuse box. It does have the ODB Power Cable

Instead of baffling us with BS and electronic gimmickry, why not simply include a volt meter so we can see what’s going on with the battery at speed and at idle. Seemed like a decent and useful feature in vehicles for 8 or 9 decades prior to this…. No?

And while I’m at it…. We shouldn’t have to buy battery tenders and/or plug in volt meters, to maintain and monitor battery health; especially for new vehicles that are driven regularly, unless operating way outside of normal driving parameters.

but…. That’s just my 2 cents
Engine parameters available on the center screen of my wife's car.

As I understand it the recall procedure is just flashing BCM/PCM via the OBDII ("Driver Link Connector" port and shouldn't have anything to do with the fusebox.

Have you checked that the fuse isn't blown, or if you used a fuse tap, that it isn't loose?

You said "It does have the ODB Power Cable" - if the dashcam is using the OBDII port for power and to be aware of the state of the car (stopped, ignition on but engine not running, engine on) that would have been unplugged to update the BCM/PCM. All you should need to do is plug it back in.

Thanks. I'll be checking everything later. It may be a simple unplug the power to the cam and wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Lol. I didn't see the last part of your message when I answered.

Restarted with no problem. Not sure what to think of this. Is the gizmo too sensitive now or is this an early warning or what?

That's the message your car send out via the FordPass app when it determines battery power may be compromised. Your car is over 3 yrs old, and you live in Hotlanta, so it's entirely possible your battery is reaching the end of its life. I recommend, however, before you buy a new battery that you contact your servicing dealership and ask them what you should do.
