Well, on the bright side, that extended warrenty I got from Granger may just payoff!

LOl. I was just typing something similar when your post appeared. Got mine from Zeigler. I 'm in it for the long haul. I think overall quality has slipped and not just with Ford. Makes the extended warranty more attractive unless you are leasing and never get past the manufacturer original warranty.

I’m kinda surprised actually. While there are documented issues here on the forum, they aren’t terribly widespread. What recalls there have been are all covered by Ford, hopefully so you don’t have maintenance issues down the line.

Damn. I thought it was a good list at first. Then I read more closely and got quickly disappointed. We've had ours for over a year and a half and so far it's been a great car. Mechanically it's been solid. Only one recall so far which was the infamous fuel injectors. I do wish ours had the 2.0L that's in my Maverick.

The 1.5L is just too buzzy for my taste. The 2.0L is so buttery smooth at idle you forget that it's on sometimes. It could have if we had gotten the Badlands. But it's just too expensive, too off-road focused and would never get used to its potential. Plus, the deal breakers other than the price are the cloth seats and rubber floors. I'll take my easy to clean faux leather seats with carpeted floors any day.

Ditto..... What you said are my exact same feelings about the Badlands. We really need the 2.0 in the Outer Banks.

The 2.0 is really a nice motor. I’m not criticizing the 1.5, but I like HP over MPG. As far as the floors and seats, I’m just the opposite. I like the durability of the cloth seats over the pleather and I have liners on the floor so the rubber underneath is a bonus if winter slush gets between the liner and the floor. I was fortunate to order mine in 21 before the prices became stupid. Hard to believe they’ve increased over 10k in just two plus years.

Lesson to learn,Nearly All New SUV type vehicles with off road capabilities that are taken offroad will have breakdowns. The Bronco Sport Badlands is Probably the only Real SUV in the lineup that has real offroad , rock climbing, water traversing, steep incline capability. I have a BB enjoy it but other than a dirt road would not
use it for steep rock roads. The three cylinder engine , factory city tires, only 8 inch
road clearance and non steel under pining protection just begs for issues. Not even mentioning the composite oil pan and plastic plug! Most factory equiped Jeeps also lack Tire height for offroad experiences and non of them offer a Snorkel
for water traversing which to me means that was not the Manufacturers intended
use.

"Last year’s least reliable company, Mercedes-Benz (M-B), stayed unreliable and was ranked the second least trustworthy behind Chrysler, which was given a woeful average predicted reliability score of 18 out of 100. M-B (23)"

If there are complaints here about the Bronco Sport, you can imagine what it like on a Mercedes-Benz Forum.

I may be missing something but I haven’t heard of any recalls over the transmission, sunroof, missing bolts, etc. The ones we all know of, including the brakes that sound like a whale, my dealer has taken care of with no effort from me. They even replaced mud flaps under warranty. This is one of my favorite cars and I’ve had a lot of them!

How are the rubber floors? Is it louder in the interior as oppose to carpet?

The first article seems almost worthless. Primarily clickbait.

The second links to CR's reliability ratings. They are not entirely objective, because they are based, in large part, on CR's subscriber surveys -- but they do provide valuable info:
https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars-a7824554938/#how-we-score-reliability

Quote:

"We weigh the severity of each type of problem to create a predicted reliability score for each vehicle, from 1 to 100. We use that information to give reliability ratings for every major mainstream vehicle. (The reliability rating is then combined with data collected from our track testing, as well as our owner satisfaction survey results and safety data, to calculate each test vehicle’s Overall Score.)"

"Both the Ford Edge and Maverick scored above-average this year..."

Keep in mind, CR only rates the BS -- not the Badlands. Also, the BS was initially rated "Very Good" (like the 2022 > '24 Edge, above. It was only after the recalls that the BS was downrated.

Mark and I (and others) discussed CR's surveys a while back. One concern is that while CR instructs subscribers to NOT include problems covered by a recall, they do not make that obvious. There's no doubt that some owners are including recall related problems -- but of course there's no way to know how many.

In addition, while it stands to reason that CR would take recalls into account, they do not say if they do. If they downrated the BS primarily, or exclusively, due to the recalls, that's not as bad (IMO) as if they had a bunch of random failures. Ideally, a recall resolves a problem.

A vehicle can have several recalls and still be very reliable. My 2002 WRX is a good example. It had a stupid number of recalls (6 or 7), some serious, but almost all were taken care of in the first year (IIRC) and the car was rock solid reliable afterward. Actually, it never left me stranded. It has over 200,000 miles on it -- the last 100K+ at Cobb Stage 2, and it still runs great.

Not sure. Nothing to compare it to but there is insulation under the rubber but it’s possible the carpeted ones are quieter. It stands to reason. If I want a soft ride and quiet ride, it’s tough to beat the 2013 Lexus ES 350.
