This is my last of my Christmas beers before returning to my boring Coors Light. This is a beautiful head. Check out New Glarus’ website, they have many more excellent beers ( Two Women, Fat Squirrel).

Quashish, I envy you being so close to Napa, we had a clan go there and had a blast. Peju, Thumbprint, Louis Martini were all great.

Easy peasy I like it! I would just add 1/4oz of lime to cut the sweetness.

When I make my "almost basic" daiquiri I shake 4oz. lime, 6oz. bacardi, and probably 1.5oz. simple syrup with ice, pour into a frozen glass and float some gosling's black seal rum on top. The syrup in the Shaken part has a slightly different viscosity and temperature probably plays a role also, but the layers keep separate as you sip it and you get the spices of the dark rum in front and the sweet citrus back.
If I need even more octane add a little 151 rum in the shaker also.

One of my favorite whiskey brands to keep around. Toured the distillery a few times always fun. My favorites from them are the black labels that are aged in different barrels. I've tried Jose quervo which was actually suprizingly nice, Bushmills, and a few others that vastly change the flavor profile and always interesting. This one is a very nice smooth single malt just a hint of spice and smoke at the finish.

Napa is nice for sure but it's a little stuck up. We really like going to Amador County. Really nice wine trail, only place with barbera grapes super tasty wines. Also great wineries in the Russian river area, guerneville home of korbel champagne is another favorite, paso robles, lodi wines. There's great wines all over CA.

Seems like I need to make my way to Wisconsin to get my hands on those beers

We were visiting about 2017, you could tell it was at tipping point for too many people. We currently enroll in St. Amant winery in Lodi, 4 cases per year and no shipping cost. They have a great Barbera but I don’t believe they grow them on their 40 acres.

Here’s a beer I had last night. A nice smooth lager, something I normally do not drink, that tastes great. If you’re ever in Central Illinois and want to try a good brewery, I recommend Riggs. Good people with smart farming methods that I learned about when I was CFO for Illinois Department of Agriculture and I like to support. Their red ale is my favorite.

Lagers are good but I love a good red ale! But they are hard to find. Some just taste like pennies.

The best I ever tasted was from a brewery in sacramento called Big Sexy that no longer exists unfortunately. They had gifted gunslinger imperial rye red ale. It was also like an 11.5% and super malty, delicious caramel flavors but not too sweet at all. They had some really good beers.

My favorite is still London Pride. Quaffing those in a pub in the English countryside while answering all the locals questions about America and Chicago, and arguing about Shakespeare, was one of my favorite hangovers. It didn’t hurt that in the 4 hours, they would not let me pay for a drink. I’m glad our inn was the pub!

Want to see what you are all into, not just beer, any libation that tickles your fancy!

I myself enjoy beer, cocktails (especially Kentucky brown water), and wines in the proper company.

Post up something frosty, festive, or boozy.

Tonight I'll share this little number
Sierra Nevada - winter warmer
It's a 6.5% ale that tastes like a stout but has a soft light finish. Prominent flavors of toasted vanilla and maybe pecan? If I had to guess ibu I'd say 65

01/22/2025 - Beer of the Day

Another addition.
Afternoon beer. After visiting the Planning Board, decided to pay a visit to the new La Taverna de Ricky in Álamos Sonora Mexico. Enjoyed a Kross Stout from Cervecería Kross located in Curacavi, Melipilla, Chile.

It's a lighter Cream Stout, a good drink on this partly cloudy late January day. I like that Beers imported into Mexico are required to have Lot Batch Numbers and Consume By Dates.

Founded in 2003, it's a newer South American Brewery, inspired by the owners overseas gig in Ireland as a wine salesman...
