To much electronic crap on these newer vehicles and it sucks IMO you have to use a charger to keep the battery charged if you don't drive them often. I keep My Mustang in the garage that has a 466 BBF engine and just started it December 17th the last time I had it started was November 4th .I have a quick disconnect on the Positive Battery Cable and It's been real cold here In late November and early December and it cranked over and started fine on Dec 17th with no charger on it in between November 4th and December 17th..

I agree that there is way too much drain on the battery for silly things like keeping the headlights on after you shut off the vehicle.

Your BS has a Battery Management System (BMS) that tells it how much charging the alternator needs to do. My understanding is that you need to connect the charger before the shunt that connects to the battery terminal so the computer knows the state of the battery.

Nice!

Those are some huge/tall valve covers. I'm used to Chevy big blocks.

It's not surprising that it started easily. Batteries do self-discharge when disconnected, but it's a low rate, especially when cold. From Google:

"At 30°F (-1°C), a 12V lead-acid battery's self-discharge rate is significantly lower than at room temperature (e.g., 68°F), slowing to roughly 1-2% per month, but its usable capacity also drops, potentially losing 20-30% of its power in the cold, so while it self-discharges slowly, it also performs poorly, requiring charging if stored long-term to prevent sulfation."

So if the battery has more than enough CCA, it could sit for quite a while and still start the engine.

I actually started a Thread on here about the Headlights when I had My 2023 BS BB[Maverick Owner Now].

What I find weird is, like today, the BS goes into sleep mode when not used for a while with the battery maintainer connected with the battery at full charge.

Yes this is normal. My 24 Mustang GT stays on the maintainer year round. Yesterday I got the notification it went into "Battery saver mode" This is based on a time interval of 2 weeks without a start/drive, even if the battery is charged. Been driving my 25 BSBL lately and have not had an issue as of yet.

Also to goo off of what @rocks mentioned about sleep mode with a full charge and on a maintainer/tender.

I did this one on my Mustang while on a NOCO5, I hit the remote start to get the vehicle warmed up for a drive, went out to the garage and forgot the tender was attached and plugged in. Figured the fuse was blown or worse... Nope, all was good. Car was fine and the tender fuse was good, the wires were not hot or melted. That was a year ago and it is still on the car doing it's thing to this day, so...

Both the BSBL and the Stang are wired direct with quick connects so the hood can stay shut. With the vehicles in a detached garage, what would be the problem with remote starting the car with the tender on a full battery? Would be nice to go out to a warmed up vehicle unhook and go vs trudging through the snow to unhook the tender then go back to the house and wait to let it warm up.

That does sound weird

two reasons
1. battery maintainer connected directly to the 12V battery +/- terminals bypassing the current sensor

that’s not your case because you already posted before that you connect the negative lead of the battery maintainer to a frame ground such as on the drivers front fender

2. the vehicles battery management system algorithm chooses to “forget” the battery charge state which if true tells us something about the algorithm but we don’t know anything about the actual algorithm

So I think your vehicle is experiencing #5 stated below

Some of the following info was published in a Ford article:

If you are seeing the following message
“Your Vehicle is in Deep Sleep mode and
connectivity is temporarily unavailable. Manually turn on your vehicle to deactivate this mode.”, or seeing a “System Off to Save Battery” message, there are several possible causes including:

1. Vehicle is inactive for 14 consecutive days: drive the vehicle at least 20 minutes every 3 days. Some owners with Deep Sleep issue solved this by keeping a trickle charger on their vehicle when not being driven.
2. Battery voltage drops below 9.5 volts, Failing or bad 12V Battery: have the battery and alternator tested. Make sure battery terminals are tight but do not overtighten.
3. Request Ford Service check the Battery Management System (BMS) firmware to verify is at the correct version.
4. Extreme cold/hot weather conditions.
5. Known Deep Sleep mode glitch that Ford has not found a solution for: this was reported on several Facebook Bronco Sport groups by a Ford dealership employee.
6. Phantom Battery Drain: have the vehicle tested for excessive parasitic battery drain.
