One of the first things I did was to spend $100 to install the auto stop eliminator. No need for this nonsense. Next, I called a Forscan specialist (another $100) and had him turn off the auto locks, the stupid emergency panic button on my FOB which goes off when my keys rub together in my pockets, turned off the chime for the seatbelts when they are not connected, etc. All of this nonsense on today's vehicles are the result of greenies and do-gooders who are lost in space...what will they do when they don't have have someone to remind them how to survive!
For those of us who've been driving since before Jesus wore three-cornered Levis, I agree. For my grandkids just learning how to drive? I don't mind safety systems that might save their lives, like a reminder to put your seatbelt on and emergency braking systems. Would it be nice to have the option to turn them off? Sure. But there's no way to guarantee the choice to turn those safety systems off will be made by those with the wisdom to choose wisely.

Amen! Problem is you can't mandate safety...today's idiots still screw up regardless of the bells and whistles....therefore freedom of choice should not be taken away. Best example is most every vehicle has bluetooth for cellphones and I continually see driver after driver using one hand to drive and one hand on the phone...the cops have simply given up on enforcement and this is the obvious infractions we can see...heck folks here invest in dummie dolls to place on their passenger seats just to drive in the HOV lanes and get away with it!

Common sense dictates that the more you use the starter motor the more wear it gets. Like a switch or anything else. So it does get extra wear.
But it is NOT an issue, as Ford uses a robust starter. It will not wear our quicker by the start/stop feature. That is a web myth.

We try to keep these types of myths at bay on this site.

I had purchased and installed the device and glad I did. My wife's 2024 BS I noticed that when you put it in Sport mode that the Bronco won't go into stop mode. I still might purchase the device for her too though.

As @jkeaton notes, the starter in your car is engineered to work as part of the start/stop system. It's geared differently, and as @Bucko states, is made from generally more robust materials and components. So despite greater use and thus greater wear, the more-robust starter in your car will almost certainly last longer than the starter in a car NOT equipped with an auto start/stop system.
Thank you Mark. That was my point. I wasn't argueing that it will wear out prematurely.

No, and I did not say you did.

By reading through this thread, others may think that it is an issue with a starter failing prematurely due to the start/stop feature. As I mentioned in this thread earlier, Ford announced they installed a robust starter for this reason.

Can you please provide a link showing the reliability and durability testing of the starter used in the Bronco Sport when the auto start/stop is routinely used?

More of a concern for me is the battery and oil dropping down in the pan at a long stoplight or something. However, I always used the button to turn the auto stop off.
Odd but my wife's '23 HR-V EX-L doesn't have that feature. Probably the only honda model.

That's not good. Your battery power may be too low.

Battery not low. I keep it on a maintainer when not being driven.
