Hey, is anyone out there proactively replacing their drain plug? I'm coming up on my 45,000km (30,000 mile) service, and thinking about replacing the plug before it leaks. I'm ambivalent about the setup. I've seen the best quality drain plug/gasket combos NEVER seal properly, and I've also had the sketchiest looking pan/plug combo last forever. But this is the first time with a composite pan and stopper setup, and want to make it last.

Cool! I've simply been cleaning the o-ring and reusing it. It struck me that I may be playing with fire. 😂😂

Don’t be sorry for me, I’ve seen and done more than 99% of the people out there. Growing old is just part of living and beats the hell out of the alternative. Reading the adventures that others get up to makes me smile and feel like I’m right there with them. So thank you to everyone on the forum. My roads not over by a long shot yet.

Ronin makes an awesome engine oil drain plug for the 1.5L Bronco Sport. It's like 60 bucks but totally worth the time cleaning up the mess that these dumb plugs they ship with.

That's what I did. Walmart would not change the oil in mine because they said that the drain plug had to be changed at each oil change and they did not stock the plugs. So I got the Ronin kit and had Walmart install the plug from the kit after they had emptied the oil. Next time, I have the option of changing oil myself or providing the drain hose to Walmart.

I'm there also. Have had many more days behind me than those ahead but just keep plugging along.

I use a fomoto style one, just open the lever and let it drain.

Yours doesn't apply to the plastic oil pans as they don't make a Fumoto ODV for those. Folks with plastic oil pans can get the Ronin FORD EASY OIL DRAIN mentioned by BigBadWolf in post #9 above. Cheers!
