Was for sale last year for 18.5. But everyone wanted it for less and wife got tired of tire kickers so took it off the market. And my adult kids yell at my wife do not sell car and wife sort of has some type of attachment issue now. But I get to drive it some times but have to ask wife first or she get mad.
The days when these were just cheap used cars is long gone. My uneducated guess is that’s what it’s worth. Still it’s a beautiful car!

That can be fixed small block Ford swap w/AC. '97 ' 98 Explorer 5.0 they already have GT40p heads high flow intakes 65 mm throttle bodies ect and can be found in pic in pull yards cheap. Basically a '93 Mustang Cobra engine but smaller cam weak valve springs but otherwise it same as '93 Cobra for most part...
One of my plans is to strip it of all the Ford computer controls and either go carbed 302 or perhaps a 302 with an aftermarket EFI kit. I'll figure that out when the 2.9L dies.

Around here you can them relatively reasonably priced, below 10k. But most of them, like mine, have been ridden hard need lots of work.

Parts are drying up too. I'm hoping they will eventually be popular enough to stir up the restoration industry and there will be reproduction parts someday.

I love driving mine, it's all you expect from a short wheelbase, underpowered, slightly lifted, thirty plus year old SUV.

It has this window sticker on the back.

Awesome sticker! Here I wouldn’t have thought of parts availability being an issue, perhaps assuming there were enough Rangers & enough was shared into the Gen 1 explorer. But then anything body specific would still be pretty difficult.

Get '98 Explorer 5.0 with GT40p heads slap a carb on that. Slide small cam better valves springs too then run it. Good thing you don't live around me we would get into all kinds of trouble...

Forget the old guy in the driver's seat. Here's my other ride, though I'm getting too stiff to get in or out gracefully.
A red Tiger in mind condition? Wow!!!

Besides our BS we have a 99 Explorer Sport, 00 Ranger Extd Cab, 69 Mustang Coupe & 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. The Mustang has a modified 1987 5.0, T-5 5 spd trans, 9" Ford rear w/3.50 gears w/trac loc. Those are older pics, the Mustang & my wife's Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom are in the carport, soon to get a garage.

I had the same issue with the Gen 1 Lightning. Even some of the standard F-150 parts were getting hard to get. My advice to someone looking to buy a limited production vehicle, what ever special parts are used will be also in limited quantities so beware. The center caps on the wheels were going for big bucks. The irradiance labels were insane. Late Model Restoration is a great place to get Lightning and Mustang reproduction parts. They even sell the center caps but they are not exactly the same.
