2022 BS Base, 106k. Just had the transmission serviced — flushed, etc. Less than a week later car completely died - slowly ground to a halt would not go into park and I had to tow it from the middle of the street. It has occasionally done the lurching that others have seen, also reverse would sometimes lurch forward. But nothing drastic, and I chalked it to computer issue as I’d seen from others, and I just shifted slower and carefully, but to no avail. I will have a diagnosis either this afternoon or tomorrow with a hell of a way to spend a Fourth of July weekend.

Already reported the issue to the shop that did the flush service. Also spent time on the phone with Ford, but there are “no programs and no extension of warranties available”. So at least I have everyone on notice that this has occurred and then we’ll see what transpires.

The Best part is that I still owe 6k on the vehicle.

Did the lurching begin before or after the flush?

The 8F35 transmission should not be flushed. A drain and fill is recommended.

Have you had the transmission serviced before?

Were you having any issues with the transmission before being flushed?

I've heard over the years that if you don't change the transmission fluid, say every 30K miles, don't do it at all with high mileage.

when they say new transmissions shouldn't be flushed they mean by the old flush machines they used to use. if your at a shop and they still use that machine turn and walk out haha.

you can still flush transmissions but you have to let the actual transmission do the flushing. a good shop if your fluid is bad will hook up to the actual pump pick up and let that draw the fluid until it discharge is new oil.

An effective way to flush without a machine is to disconnect to trans to cooler line from the rad. Connect a hose and put other end in pail. Remove the vent from the top of the trans an inset funnel. Put in a litre of fuel and start car. Car will pump fluid out into pail as you replace it by pouring into funnel. Continue until it flows clean. Ensure you have put maybe 1/2 qt more in than drained. Reconnect trans tube. Warm up trans, set level and you're good to go.

I’m assuming they did the correct
procedure. It appears a huge coincidence that only days later the SAME component seems to be dead. After the diagnosis comes back I’ll report back. I also saw a recall in PCM/BCM transmission issues.

On these Bronco Sport automatic transmissions, do they have oil filters in them that need changing?

That particular recall is a "recall of the recall" 24S24 / 24V267 for software changes regarding the battery and charging system. Cheers!

Here’s some more info on 2025V158000 but as cprcubed posted this recall isn’t for a transmission issue although the transmission does go into its relearn cycle as part of the recalls procedure.

Watching the results of this outcome.

I'm assuming that if there was an extended warranty purchased, this would have been covered?

Recalls aren't subject to warranty limitations.
