Hello everyone, the wind chill in southern Ontario this morning is about - 20 C . There is plenty of heat in the front seat area of my BB but my passengers in the rear seat are complaining about a lack of heat back there ! There seems to be no heated air coming out of the rear vent under the centre console (in the summer, this vent supplied plenty of cool air to the rear seat area when the AC was on ). And there seems to be no heat coming from under the front seats towards the rear .

The paper version of the Ford Manual (pages 105 - 110) does not explain how heat is directed to the rear seat area . Is there an icon on the infotainment screen that needs to be pushed ?

Any suggestions for keeping my rear seat passengers happy would be appreciated !

Cheers

it travels past the front seat pasengers to the back seat. if they are cold you have to turn up the fan and temp a little more. there are no dedicated back seat vents, which actualy surprised me as my 2010 fusion and my 2014 f350, the wifes 2019 edge all had them.

Thanks for that info , hey Ford engineers, why can't that under console rear vent supply cool air in the summer and heated air in the winter ?

Your sport doesn't have these vents under the front seats?

I will look for those under seat vents in the morning (It's about - 12 C outside now) !

Maybe those vents require a higher fan speed or higher temp to supply enough volume of heat ?

Many thanks from the frozen north !

Thanks for your message, my Big Bend has those same vents and when the AC is on, plenty of cool air is pushed out into the rear seat area.

But when the heat is on , there is no heated air coming out !

Cheers

I tried looking through PTS to see if I can find any diagrams demonstrating how air is distruted through those rear vents, but I was not able to find anything. However, I don't see why it would be any different (in terms of how the air gets routed) when using a/c as opposed to heat. Very strange.

Does your have the “Dual” on the right ac button? Not sure, but in past vehicles, this had to be on to put air in the rear seat area. Regardless, I’ll test mine when I get off work.

Every sport I’ve seen has rear seat vents… right in the center console.

The floor mat, especially the rubber ones sometimes block the "under seat vents". Check that and also make sure your vent selector on the dash for Upper and Lower is on both. If it is you should get floor air as well as out of the console vents. Keep in mind the console does have a fan control and the vents can be blocked with the lever on the side to stop air as well. I'm voting to make sure your air is flowing through the dashboard vents. If you have it on auto, I think it diverts the air to the bottom and maybe the windshield ones. I would say turn the fans on high, get everything nice and warm, and have someone sit in the back while you play around the direction.
