Having an issue with the wireless charger in my 2024 Bronco Sport. When placing the phone on the charging pad it does start to charge and then after a few minutes it stops. When I remove the case it charges properly. Ok so it has something to do with the case. The case works on other MagSafe charges. Are there any adapters that I could use? Or any recommendations for cases that have worked for other folks.

That is exactly how ours works. However, when we chose the BSBL, a reputable car review magazine noted” the wireless phone charger is more of a wireless phone warmer.” Our expectations were pretty low on this feature.

Yea, the wireless charger in the BS is pathetic. I drove for nearly an hour and my battery percentage maybe went up 5% and the phone was hot as lava. Haven't used it since. It's a shame because it's the perfect place to put your phone while driving. Maybe there's a way to disable it that I'm not aware of.

Same here on my OB '22. I asked them to fix it so it would actually charge the phone. The dealer said they did, but it still doesn't work, and makes the phone very hot. I don't use it. It was very slow when I could get it to work anyway. It was distracting because I'd always be monitoring it on the screen and then moving it around on the charging pad to get it "charging" again. Wireless charging, to my mind is a Ford option/not option.

I have seen a post where a guy took the charger apart and built it with a mag charger base instead of the one that's in there. I think he 3d printed some parts though. for myself, I would just like to be able to turn the wireless charging off, I plug in for android auto anyways so all the wireless charging does is heat up the phone

In the past I've just plugged in a MagSafe charger and used that, you can use some adhesive to stick it in place, too. A moving vehicle + an unsecured charger is never a great combo, regardless of the case issue!

Many have complained about the Bronco Sports wireless charge pad … there is a fix for certain Bronco Sports, don’t depend on what the PDF says because applicability may have been updated so you’ll need to ask your dealership about applicability

this greatly helped my 2022 and even with latest iPhone and a MagSafe case the wireless pad is decent and the phone won’t get hot - just remember that it’s effectively charging at around 3.5W and that’s if the phone isn’t moving around (sticky adhesive was mentioned earlier)

If your expectation the charge rate will be like at home on your 20W+ charger you won’t get that and certainly is not as good as plugged into a USB-C port but it’s decent if the setup is correct with the TSB Update if applicable to your vehicle

ask your dealership as this may not be the most current TSB:

TSB 22-2485-A0 (or latest) Wireless Charging WACM software updates (Causal Part: 19J235, Condition Code: 04),
Ford TSB 22-2485 Wireless Accessory Charger Inoperative/Poor Performance With Magsafe Charging iPhones

Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
With my 2025, it does charge some but main thing is the charge doesn't go down, it either goes up some and or remains the charge, which I'm glad at least the charge doesn't go down, at least on mine! Also, mine doesn't doesn't get too hot. I had it on the charger from Nebraska to Arkansas and it didn't get that hot.

FWIW my new iPhone 16e(not MagSafe) works perfectly, even with a snakehive wallet case. I have a '22 OBX. Previous phones just overheated...

It was me.
Since the OEM charger is useless, I used an Apple MagSafe charger instead. The MagSafe delivers a high Amp charge that is modulated based on the phone requirements. But for this you need a power supply that's Power Delivery-compatible. There are ICs on Amazon for this that output USB-C with PD from a 12v source.
So, you basically connect this IC to the 12v feed that's underneath the wireless charger (I used the cigarette lighter cables) and connect the USB of the MagSafe charger to it. Problem solved.

Now my phone does not move (MagSafe is magnetic). This was one of my main issues as the OEM charger does not keep the phone in place while you drive. A minor fast turn or braking, and it disengages. Useless!
I can now travel indefinitely while my phone charges. Even while I am wirelessly connected to CarPlay with one of those wireless dongles. And it does not get hot because the phone negotiates the power needed to keep it just warm.

This is a link to the cheap IC from Amazon:

For those wanting to just lay their phone in the charger slot and not wirelessly charge — just lay the phone face down on the charger pad . . . problem solved

If you wanted to disable you are able to disable the module in forscan (which I’ve done since it’s not plugged in anymore and I don’t want the car trying to talk to something that’s not there)

ok perfect, I'll have to see if I can find the right setting to disable. it is pretty much useless to me as I keep my phone in a wallet case, it does charge through it but I also have it plugged in so I can use the android auto and don't need both sources as the wireless just heats everything up.

Had the TSB done and it didn't fix anything. The charging unit is a P.O.S.
