Hi everyone,

New to this forum, and unfortunately, my first post isn’t a positive one. I purchased my 2021 Bronco Sport new from the dealership during the height of the pandemic in 2021—meaning I paid a premium. Since day one, I’ve had a persistent issue: the brake squeal that most of us are aware of.

I took the vehicle to various dealers three times under warranty to have it fixed, only to be told that brakes are a “wearable part” and wouldn’t be covered. One shop manager at Ford Lincoln Franklin, TN even dismissed my concerns, saying, “This is normal—we sell $100,000+ vehicles that have this noise.”

Despite their refusal to fix it, they advised me to wait for a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB).

So I waited. And waited. And waited. Then voila, a TSB was released.

I returned to the dealer for the fourth time—only to be told that since my 3-year/36,000-mile warranty had expired, they won't cover the repair, and that this is why they suggest getting extended warranties . Even after showing them a timestamped video from my last visit (within the warranty period) proving the issue existed they still refused. This is infuriating, considering the fix is simple brake clips and bushings.

I’ve read through the existing threads on this TSB, but this experience has been beyond frustrating. As a lifelong Ford buyer, this situation makes me question ever purchasing from them again. There’s a reason they’re called stealerships.

Would love to hear if anyone else has had similar issues getting this resolved.

There’s hundreds of posts from disgruntled owners like yourself on that topic, a search will bring up many of those posts. The 4th and latest TSB is 24-2348 so that’s a good keyword to search for.

TSB 24-2348 Moan Noise In The Rear Brakes When Vehicle Is Driven In Reverse

won’t make you feel any better but there’s no guarantee TSB 24-2348 will 100% correct the rear brake noise - I had it done early Dec 2024 and just one reoccurrence since then due to a very wet and high humidity day so I consider that a success “so far”.

One owner posted about using a specific set of bushings (Damond Motorsports, brass brake caliper bushings) to 100% fix the problem and you’ll find that by going through posts at this link:

I guess my frustration is the idea that it's okay to tell people that they can't cover it under warranty, and to wait until a TSB is released. Then when the TSB is released, tell people you can't cover it because it's now not under warranty?

Yes absolutely
Some owners were able to show visits under warranty for the brake moan to their dealership or contact Ford Customer Service with that information and were able to get the TSB completed at no charge so you may be able to do so with that sort of effort

no guarantee even the latest TSB solves the issue

I have sold my 2021 bb with the same thing. I said fuck it and I changed out my rear brakes and rotors with better quality ones. But in the process when I got to the side that did the noise. And the piston was jammed up. Finally got it back to where it should be I never had that problem again.

Or contact another dealer if one is in a reasonable distance from you.

I have the same model, same year, same problem and same pathetic excuses from Ford... Moaning brakes in reverse and I only have 13,500 miles on the vehicle. I live in South Florida. I have a Ford extended warranty (Premium + or whatever the best full coverage warranty is called) AND they still will not repair the car!

Ford Customer Service is worthless. One agent told me to contact the factory in Mexico (where the car was built) to verify if the parts listed in the TSB were actually installed or not. REALLY??

I posted a similar thread to yours about two weeks ago. I was told about TSB and called Galpin Ford again. I’m in the same boat as you. They told me it was normal which I know it’s not. And they told me it is out of warranty, even though I had told them about the noise right after I bought the vehicle and at every single recall. They are saying that it’s not a safety issue so it’s also not a recall. Since then, I made a complaint with the FTC. I hope they look into this, not just for me, but for everyone else who has or has had this issue. I am toying with also reaching out to one of the TV news stations that deal with consumer issues.

Updated 3/7/2025: TSB 24-2348 on page 2 states the following Warranty Status:
Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Service Part Warranty

(SPW/Service Part New Vehicle (SPNV)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. NVLW/SPW/SPNV/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and
verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

TSB 24-2348 Moan Noise In The Rear Brakes When Vehicle Is Driven In Reverse

Has that TSB been done? You want to at least get that done before moaning about the brakes (ok that’s a terrible play on words)

You'll be happy to know I was quoted $1,000 by the dealership today to fix the issue. To change two brake pads, clips, and bolts. LOL.
