They had a prototype kit
Do you remember what it included? If I recall, the stock fuel system (pumps, injectors, etc.) can only support an increase to 350 hp or so on pump gas.

I don't remember because there was alot done. The trans went to monster if I remember right the trans was built for around 500 hp( maybe wrong on that). motor was redone by the r company. The kit was free and install.but every else was around 4 k. As soon as I get my bronco sport sasquatch I will put the build any every on here. Not sure if it can handle 400 plus .But we will find out.

The only thing I know that can boost an engine fairly inexpensively to +150 hp is nitrous. Not having direct experience with it, I can't speak knowledgeably enough about it other than I think it requires certain internals that I don't believe the ecoboost engines in the BS have to handle it. I welcome the education!

I think a Ford 2.0L can be built to make 400 hp, but not with the stock internals, and not with the stock fuel system. It may not be possible at all with pump gas, but there are conflicting opinions on that score. I'd be very interested to see the parts list for your upgrade. Good luck!

Well I have a 10 k budget. These day it may only buy a air intake. It may only be 325 to 350. The idea is twin turbo upgrade and a few extra goodies.

In Sport mode it pulls away from the light pretty quickly. But…. The 2.3 EcoBoost Mustang is about 2-3 seconds faster to 60 compared to the 2.0 Badlands
Agreed.
It also depends on the driver and if he or she really wants to "race". I am not discrediting anything here but I also have "launched" my FE at lights and had fun getting to the next "red" first...?

I had a similar experience as the op's wife that I related on a previous post. At that time I had a '22 BB and like her situation, only I was the guy in the lane that was merging, next to a small BMW suv. I put her in sport mode before the light turned, and when it did I floored it. I jumped ahead from the get, I do believe he was trying to keep me from merging ahead of him but not even close. The 1.5 3cyl, at least for 300 or so feet is really quick and I think it surprises people. My '24 BB is just as fun.

With all our vacationing highway travel, I absolutely needed the passing prowess of the Badlands. I never even considered getting the other trim levels. Although, I am spoiled by having a Lincoln Mark VIII and a pretty quick Acura TSX. The Tesla Model Y I had was okay, too ;)

So depending on what year mustang this could definitely happen, especially because it's off the line. And you're probably stopping at about 40 mph but it's only going to be if it's like a 2010 or earlier And even the 05 to 2010's it would be questionable And it would only be like 40-50 mph.

The 2.0 is a very awesome powerful engine for going in a lot of economy cars. But the problem is that the turbo especially the exhaust housing is so tiny that it just falls on its face in the upper RPM and also because our cars are basically bricks on Wheels And the suspension is not at all meant for acceleration. They have a lot of wind resistance once you go over like 50 mph and because of that tiny turbo you get all your power down low so it does feel very peppy especially also cuz it's all-wheel drive so you rarely waste power peeling out. I will tell you if you try to race a mustang and get going faster than 60 mph. They're going to smoke you for at least the newer ones. Also, I had a 14 escape and you can actually make these 2.0s really powerful. There's a lot of ST's pushing 4 00 HP and that was just through the front wheels And they were very quick So you can make them fast. The problem is that on the broncos sports they changed a lot from the earlier escapes. you used to be able to take focus ST parts and put them on the escapes and they would work cuz that's what I did with my 14. But unfortunately everything's different now and the routing's different so it has more clearance for off-road. But yeah these engines can take about 400 to the wheels on totally stock internals and that's about where the direct injection fuel injectors run out too. Or at least that's what it was when I was messing with them.

Really on these engines. All you need to do is put a bigger turbo on it. There's actually a guy with Maverick about 2 years ago I think who was taking the Corsair 2.3 turbo and putting it on his Maverick and he gained a decent bit of power. He actually eventually put the hole 2.3 L engine out of the Corsair in it and he said it was basically plug and Play And the two three can hold a decent bit more power and the head flows more. But that's more than I'd want to do.

but definitely in the future. Once my warranty is done I will be looking at putting a Corsair turbo on mine or possibly seeing if I could get one of the aftermarket focus ST's to work on ours cuz I'll tell you what 300 horsepower to the wheels and these cars is pretty fast and will surprise a lot of cars. But you're still not going to beat newer mustangs. Even the new base 2.3 EcoBoost goes 0 to 60 and like sub, 5 seconds.

But yes you can definitely get some good power out of these and even stock they feel pretty quick.

If I have a need to go any quicker than my 1.5 Outer banks, I park it and grab my 67 Camaro.

You guys talking about these things having 400hp ... My truck has 430hp and is a rocket. Can't imagine what that would be, 2,000lbs. lighter.

A couple good points brought up along the way, yes it was for a short run. 100-150yrds. ish. I did say the lanes converged "a short distance beyond". Yes, aerodynamically, these things are bricks but sub 45mph, that doesn't come that much into play.

Again, I have no idea what yr. the mustang was. It could have been from the 60s, for all I know. There were years in there that without seeing the pony, I couldn't even tell you if something was, or wasn't a mustang and she would be no better.

I haven't had my foot in it hard yet, so I haven't experienced the steering torque that was mentioned.

Not with stock internals. Or at least not for long with stock internals. I hear this number a lot, and I always cringe. You will put a LOT of money into upgrades for your 2.0L EcoBoost before you can get that much horsepower reliably. You can get an idea of the kind of upgrades I mean by looking at what's on offer from engine builders specializing in 2.0L EcoBoost power upgrades.

Yes but if you beat my wife at the red light no one cares. How ever if she beats you. Or even close it will get on here.
I'll care. And not currently worried about a bronco or bronco sport beating my Camaro, or even getting close:like:

As I’ve gotten older and wiser—or at least less stupid—I’ve learned that the point of a car’s power is that it should be enough to get one out of trouble, not into it.
