The only thing that bugs me about the Outer Banks and Badlands trims is that we’re forced into the black roof. I think it’s a misstep on Ford’s part, particularly in the desert Southwest. More than just making it harder to keep things cool in our (ever longer) summers, it’s a dirt magnet.

Anyone opt for a lower trim because of that? Have your OB/BL roof wrapped in body color? Just wish Ford made it an option for all trims?

IMO, its as much of a boneheaded move as nixing the spare tire. Which I can't believe there won't be major pushback against. Sealant and inflator, for an "Adventure Vehicle"? Ya gotta be kidding me.

In the end though, the 1.5 vs. 2L engine, was our deciding factor.

We both liked the looks of the Heritage best but and I know others think its fine, the 1.5L just felt like it was working too hard, on a simple test drive.

Manufacturers are not only trying to increase their savings but are being pushed to have un realistic mpg and carbon whatever ratings these days. I'd bet only 2 in 10 people could safely and effectively swap a spare tire onto their vehicle these days anyways.

It is a space and weight saver. Didn't know they include an inflator and sealant. That's kinda of cool. Would have paired well with a spare also though lol

Even if that is true, at least road side assistance would have something to work with, rather than requiring a tow, because of an unrepairable tire.

If I could have known with certainty, that the tire well would still exist, we would have ordered a 25 and bought our own tire, wheel and jack.

If Ford takes away the donut, AND the tire well that would be insane on their part.

I do know that mine will have a “full size” spare, though not an identical match in size. Good enough for the highway, but still a trail ender for the day.

Wouldn't say it was the deciding factor for me to get a Big Bend but I do prefer the roof to be the same color as the rest of the truck. I knew I didn't need all the Badlands goodies so I was pretty set on an OBX or BB.

The main thing I couldn't get over on an OBX was the 18" rims. They didn't look right to me from both a size and design element. I just liked the general appearance of the Big Bend more with the rims and the matching roof color.

Ours came with the Pirelli Scorpion ATR 225-65 R17. The spare is an exact match.

The ’25 BL Sasquatch package has the 225 spare, I believe, but it runs 235’s on the ground.

We didn't want any of the off road packages.

Not just the additional cost but the looks.

Cool people drive SUVs with black roofs. I really like the black roof on my Badlands. Had all the pillars covered with Paint Protection Film (PPF) including the portion above the rear hatch - that solved any issue with swirl marks on the piano black plastic. And had ceramic coating applied on the entire exterior - this makes for super easy cleaning including the black roof.
