I purchased a 2024 Bronco Sport 1.5 L 2 months ago.
From the beginning, the stop/start feature rarely operates, despite having the option in the on position.

I have taken it back to the dealership and they said it works “intermittently” based on several factors, such as battery strength, electrical usage used for heated seats, and heat on may cause this option not to work, by saving the charge in the battery.

Has anyone else experienced this useless option?

Sounds about right. If I go on an hour+ drive the system will work again, but it doesn’t seem able to maintain sufficient battery charge for it during my normal commute.

My auto-start-stop typically always works fine but I manually keep mine disabled. There are many posts on this topic if you wanted to search for some reasons to keep it disabled (my reason has to do with the AGM Battery even after Recall 24S24 completed - the dealership replaced the factory EFB (battery) under the factory warranty not long after 24S24 was completed … installed an AGM Battery)

Anyway here is the list from my ‘22 owners manual:

Mine will go weeks without activating, and I don't miss it. Then one day it will start working again, usually after a long drive, but sometimes not. Who knows the rhyme or reason.

I used to get really annoyed and try to remember to turn it off when I start the motor, but I finally gave up and just let it do its thing. Life is too short.

I've experienced the same thing. When it doesn't activate after a good run, I place the battery on my tender which corrects the issue and all is good. I do believe the state of charge as something to do with the issue.

It’s a useless feature regardless. Shouldn’t even exist. Had it disabled with auto stop start eliminator on our big bend. On the badlands disabled through forscan.

consider it a free mod if it doesn’t work on its own

i thanked God that mine stopped working, the the dealer updated the SYNC system and it worked again. Shortly after the update it stopped working …hopefully for good. It’s a terrible ad-on for your sanity and the well being of your ride.

Auto start stop is one of the 1st things to not function correctly or not work at all if the Sports battery state of charge is low.
I find auto start stop is basically transparent on my Badlands, and sometimes have to look at the tach to see that it did shut down, lol.
