I've had this issue since purchasing 2 yrs ago. My BS has been at the dealer 7 times. They even kept for 8 days and had no clue how to fix. Then the manager told me that ford had to Authorize the work I asked them to try to fix...things I read here...bushings etc. WTF?? I'm the one paying the note!! Shouldn't I have a vehicle that doesn't frighten people standing around me when I back up?? I wrote ford but haven't heard back. Maybe I should just get a different car...not a ford

Here is a status: The dealer did the diagnostic yesterday. Looks like they agreed that the TSB should be done. The kit to do the TSB is on national backorder with no estimate when the parts will be available. Once they are able to get the kit, they will schedule a time to do the service.

(Funny note: by the time the service is done, the weather will be warmer here in the PNW so I suppose i won't know until next year if it worked :) )
Go thru the car wash and back out after vacuuming. It doesn’t matter what time of year-you’ll know..

I'm think that changing to the ceramic pads would only address the terrible brake dust issue on the BS. My dealer service manager told me that the problem with the whale moan sound was the bushings on the rear caliper. They are on back order so I'm just waiting for them to come in.
I’ve been waiting a year for the brake fix. So, three winters of such embarrassing noise.I park backwards in the driveway as to not wake the neighbors..

My Bronco Sport is at the dealer right now. I left it overnight. They have the TSB 23.2308 but my Bronco is two weeks out of warranty. I have the ESP premium extended warranty but they say it doesn't cover any of this! They can't tell me why, they just say it's not covered. I'm not happy. They are charging me $321.

My BS still has this stupid sound during reverse, so when i reverse i brake late and shift quickly to avoid this freaking sound. If i hit someone, oops sorry still waiting for parts replacements, tsb/fsa stacking up my car.

I already went and test drove some cars today, non Ford ones. I’m completely done with this. I’ve had mine since 9/30 and it’s beyond ridiculous. My dad had the TSB fix already that mine is now gonna get and his brakes still moan like a dying whale.

I feel bad for people who are dealing with this and are getting refused service for them or are being charged to fix it. This is a Ford Motor Company screw up and it should be Ford Motor Company’s responsibility to fix it the right way instead of throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it that doesn’t do anything except waste my time.
I apologize in advance if this will sound mean but i laughed so hard on your dying whale moan comment hehe. It captures what everyone with the issue has been experiencing.

Anyway, if i replace the whole brake assembly with better non-ford made ones (if they sell those) i should be able to knock out the dying whale moan issue correct?

They can't tell me why, they just say it's not covered.
With the extended warranty, I'd be adamant that they show me why it's not covered! Cheers!

I have the same issue. Been living with it on and off for about a year and a half. Mine's a 2022 Big Bend. My question is, is this problem showing up on 2023 and 2024 models? I know it may be too soon to tell with the 24's, but how about you 2023 owners out there.

That is what I’ve heard anyway. It sucks cause we shouldn’t have to buy new brakes when the brakes are still good just to get rid of an embarrassing noise. A fumble on Ford’s end.

Moan like whale, some sound like tug boat horns in a foggy harbor.

'24 Badlands here. No screeching, moaning brakes when reversing. Well, once it softly screeched while backing out of my driveway with a light application of brakes.

That’s how my ā€˜22 Badlands started
More noise now, seems to get louder over time
