I apologize in advance if this will sound mean but i laughed so hard on your dying whale moan comment hehe. It captures what everyone with the issue has been experiencing.

Anyway, if i replace the whole brake assembly with better non-ford made ones (if they sell those) i should be able to knock out the dying whale moan issue correct?
Good luck to you. ?

My Bronco Sport is at the dealer right now. I left it overnight. They have the TSB 23.2308 but my Bronco is two weeks out of warranty. I have the ESP premium extended warranty but they say it doesn't cover any of this! They can't tell me why, they just say it's not covered. I'm not happy. They are charging me $321.
I’ll be loosing warranty in October. I have never bought an extended warranty…. Annoyed that I need to because I’ve lost faith in Ford and their dealerships.

I'm in the process of changing out the rotors and pads. Got the front completed this weekend and will get the rears sometime this week. Hoping this fixes the problem. Went with sets from powerstop.

These the ones you got? Let us know how the stopping response changes

Yeah I got the Z23's pads. I bought everything separate, should have just gotten the whole package.
So far on the fronts, it is nice not hearing the grinding anymore.

My dealer used the most current tsb and replaced pads and bushings. Sound came back after just one month. Does anyone know where the actual problem is? Is it just the pads or just the bushings or both? I'm interested in just doing the back brakes with the Z23. The front has never made a sound.

If Ford, with all its engineering expertise and more than century of automotive knowledge can't figure out what's making the noise, then I highly doubt anyone here on this forum can say with any certainty. All we know is the interaction between moisture, the pads, and the rotor causes a vibration resulting in a resonance at the perfect frequency to cause the noise. Until Ford finds a permanent fix you might consider using just a tad of throttle along with the brakes when backing up. This will require a bit more pressure on the brake pedal to put enough pressure on the rotor to prevent the vibration. It will also put enough heat into the brake system to get rid of the moisture. Be careful; I suggest practicing somewhere away from obstacles before doing this the first time in a parking lot full of cars.
