Has anyone changed out the reverse lights to something brighter? Under certain conditions (usually rain) I can't see anything through the reverse camera at night. I have a long dark driveway and prefer to back in, so being blind is not ideal.

I searched the forum for something, but didn't see anything. I did see something about the license plate lights washing out the camera though, and now I wonder if that's the problem.

If anyone did swap out the bulbs for like an LED or something really bright did it help? What kind did you buy?

Don't have my ordered BS yet, but have you looked at Diode Dynamics?
Panda Motorworks has a YouTube video showing installation.

My wife had the same problem backing out of the garage in her Subaru. Just ordered from Amazon a set of solar powered lights to put on both sides of the driveway. That might solve your problem.

Many vehicles have poor reverse light lighting. It seems reverse lights are more to show your backing up.

Here is the thread for replacement LED lights....... a bit long now but should answer your question.

That's one of the first things I usually replace. LED bulbs are a much brighter and whiter light. Definite improvement. I've replaced headlights, fog lights, interior dome, sun visor, license plate, and brake lights in my last 4 new vehicles. In my OBX I did the reverse and brake lights. I didn't bother with the directionals because that's where you get hyper flashing sometimes. I've been buying Auxito bulbs on Amazon with pretty good results. I believe your reverse bulbs are 7440's.

Been using these for the past few weeks. Very bright.

*Amazon states that it doesn’t fit the BS. They’re wrong.

I think the lights are fine as long as you don’t use the camera. Mines always dirty. Maybe because I never wash it? ?

I don't really feel it is the reverse lights that are the problem, but the glare from the license plate lights! I have been trying to figure out a way to block that from the camera's view, or tone it down, but I'm betting there is some law against it.

Backup, turn, tail lights? I've been looking for LED turn bulbs and no one lists them even Diode Dynamics.

Everyone had backup and brake lights only.

Yeah, I noticed that. As of right now, I’m not prepared to splice in a resistor for the turn signals just to get LED’s in there. But I definitely LED’ed every other bulb that wasn’t one.

Same here. Just want plug and play. Don’t understand why there would be a problem adding LED turn bulbs.

So, I like the idea of the LED reverse and brake bulb swap out. Any issue with that being done and living in part of the "White/Cold" part of the country, UpState NY? How would the cold effect the light, bulbs, operations?

I'm in Syracuse, NY. I installed LED's in my reverse and brake lights in my '23 OBX in February. No problems yet!
