Sync 3.4 Build 23188 Now Available 9/2/23

I deleted I post I made just a few minutes ago on this topic because I found my problem. But thought I would post what I was doing incorrectly in case others experience it. I use a Mac and I primarily use Safari as my browser. There is a setting in Safari that I have screen shot included below. This must be UNCHECKED otherwise safari unzips the file as part of the download which messes up the process. This is in the instructions on the ford website but I missed it the first time I downloaded the update. Figured other Mac users might miss it too.

@TNFurb .. Although Nav does not update over WiFi, the file name is similar to the recent NAV 2 22 update (4U5T-14G422-CAM.tar.gz).

@TNFurb Do you have the Ford Nav in your BS?

The filename decoder ring for Sync and Navigation indicates the file is for Navigation.

There is no updating Nav via WiFi. You have to use a USB Device to update Nav.

The two choices for Nav updates are:
1. Download the Nav update to your computer then put that onto your own USB Device.
2. Purchase the Nav USB Device from
Ford containing the Nav update.

I have not yet seen a $100 charge for Nav update for my Bronco Sport. Because I already updated to Nav 2 22 via my own USB Device, I would see a $40 charge to buy Nav 2 22 like the following pic shows but I have read Ford increased the charge to buy the Ford Nav USB Device and Ford also has a 3 year Nav subscription (about $300 I recall for a 3 year subscription).

Call +1 (833) 389-0848, Ford’s Sync 3 Team. Some owners have said that when they purchased their Bronco Sport with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, they were told they would receive 5 years of Navigation update downloads for FREE. Since your Bronco Sport is not 5 years old, call that number and ask about getting the Nav 2 22 update for free via method #1 above (the Nav download to your computer).

Please let us know what Ford tells you.

That would honestly be great I have a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, not a Bronco Sport (sure it’s made on the same platform as the Escape). I was able to get NA 22 1 for free but not NA 2 22. I will follow up with the Sync Team later today to see what the issue is. It's just very strange to not have the NA 2 22 maps free after upgrading from NA 2 20 to NA 2 21. Since I didn't purchase a Bronco Sport and still got the co pilot 360 assist+ do you think I would still be eligible for a couple more years of navigation?

I had a feeling you were asking about a different Ford model. I think you will be charged that $109 USD for the Nav download however you can always call Ford and explain your point of view. They do have the power to escalate and attempt to get approval for the cost waived in your case (the cost waived happened for me but that was a different Nav issue than yours).

I got my car in September 2020. Should it still come with the 5 years of map upgrades? Also, I don’t understand the different files since I updated my sync system to 3.4.21388. Is it missing some extra files? I’m updating through WiFi and this is what I’m seeing.

Thank you everyone for your help and input. My computer skills are clearly lacking (I'm 79). I finally figured out you have to extract files to de-compress them. Once I did this the new sync downloaded in ten minutes. Thanks again for all the help!

I'm getting much better now. I bought the USB to upload my maps to the NA 2 22 version and installed it with no problem. Now if I can just figure out my wife's Ecosport!

Well chalk that up to yet another unknown but now you have Nav 2 22 for free (you probably will continue to get free Nav next time too). How it got onto your vehicle is a mystery but doesn’t matter!

It ain’t matter! But hey I get it for free so why not! Completely irrelevant but was wondering if you all have heard about the firehood hybrid recall 23s27? I recently got a PCM recall but did complete it with a firmware update.

Weird.... i have version 3.4 Build 22251_Product in my 2023 Heritage (the 3-banger) that i picked up in late August.

If i do a search for a newer version of Sync 3, my display indicates i have the latest version installed as of 9/2/23 (after i purchased the vehicle). I know the Heritage doesn't have all the bells and whistles available (no Nav or Maps, for example) so wondering if 22251 is still the latest version for this particular vehicle.... Either way, no issues at the moment.

No. 23188 is the most recent. My BS never updates itself from WiFi and if I scan for new updates it says it’s up to date. Then when I log in to FordPass online it shows that an update is available. Try checking online and you’ll see the update message there.
