I notice something like you are describing sometimes on especially cold or especially hot days when I first start a ride. I figure it is the windshield and dash making temperature adjustments. It typically stops after a little while.

Pretty cheap to buy. My dealer swapped mine out when doing a tire rotation and knew exactly why I wanted it done no questions asked.
