Do not pay for a new APIM. This will not solve your issues. The issues will only come back.

Unlike the wife's HR-V, the BS doesn't have wireless Android Auto, so I'll just use the OEM system Nav if needed.
The BS has wired Android Auto and CarPlay. In the BS, Sync 22251 issues have been reported to occur more readily with use of Android Auto or CarPlay, wired or wireless.

I was thinking about getting the Motorola MA1 wireless set up but will not now. I won't use Android Auto wired or not. OEM Nav or when with the wife maybe Google on her phone.

I get it but if you change your mind the Moto device is a great choice for wireless Android if you guys ever decide to use AA.

Ford probably is going to release a Sync update especially since Cyan Labs proved 23088 works and has had it available since May. Once Ford releases the update then we’ll all get it (for those that choose not to use Cyan Labs).

When it comes to these various module issues a movie line comes to mind. "There was a fire".

I'm working on getting a new APIM since I have other related issues not necessarily related to sync (maybe it's related I don't know). Wrench light comes on after the check engine light for my 2020 Escape hybrid so it makes sense in my situation, but if I didn't have those problems I'd definitely not replace the APIM. I'm getting random error codes popping up in the computer system through OASIS that I can't even decipher so the replacement of the APIM is the best option for me now.

@Mark S. That’s not my post but was there a typo in your “Ford says there is fix currently available” response? I am not aware of a fix for the issue that dparleng refers to and I reread that post which to me says there is no fix currently available.
Yeah, typo. Missed the "no" in that sentence. There is NO fix available. What else can Ford's customer service people do at this point except tell you that?

I agree with you, while it wasn’t my post you had commented on, I also was told by Ford customer service that no fix is available.., we both had a good laugh because what else can you do. Might as well laugh about it as there’s no point in getting upset with a customer service person (don’t shoot the messenger).

ok … not to start a rumor as I have absolutely no data …however I do think maybe Ford hadn’t fixed Sync 22251 because a real fix might be very difficult due to the amount and types of memory in the APIM. I’ve read the these Sync issues to some extent are in earlier Sync versions.

If the APIMs amounts of memory is a constraint, solving overflow in the APIMs rwdata partition could require removing Sync features (which Ford has done before) or could require rearchitecting the Sync software.

On the other hand, Cyan Labs released Sync 23088 with the issues fixed but I don’t know if Cyan Labs Sync software significantly differs from Ford’s.

My question to @Mark S. and other Ford vehicle long term owners, how much do you know about the APIM? Are their differences in hardware revisions of the APIM that have more memory than the APIM in the Bronco Sport?

Short answer, yes, there are differences. Earlier model year cars with SYNC 3 cannot upgrade to later versions due to hardware constraints. This issue with the AM radio turning itself on at engine start has been present for some time—at least two years for our 2020 Escape.

I like using Waze but I still have my good old Garmin GPS sitting on my dashboard. If I have my CD player plugged in, I use the GPS. Comes with lifetime updates and works just fine. I've had it for years and it saved the cost of having to upgrade the Synch 3 to include navigation.

I wanted adaptive cruise which is in the Nav pkg.

Hey folks. I have been watching this thread lately because I have the out of memory condition in 22251. I have a 20 Explorer ST and there's all kinds of activity on the Explorer FB forum about a new Sync 3 release 23118 now available on Cyanlabs. It was released yesterday. Reportedly it fixes the out of memory condition.

Your issues do not sound like a bad APIM. I would not waste your money by replacing the APIM.
