What's up with the light up numbers on the side of my door?

Hey if it ain’t on my phone…… what’s a manual?
If you have the FordPass app loaded on your phone then the manual is also on your phone. From the Home screen touch Service > Reference Guide > Owner's Manual.

BTW everyone, keep in mind if your fob is inside the car and someone breaks into it they'll be able to start it and drive away. This is true even if you have the perimeter plus alarm. The only way to prevent this is to put your fob in a faraday pouch, which will render the fob invisible to the sensors inside the car.
You can also wrap it in aluminum foil. Works great.

I learned something new. Thank you. I don’t Ford pass nor a Bronco Sport at this point.

Ford has been using the securicode panel for ~25 yrs. Our 1999 and 2003 Mercury Mountaineers and our 2001 and 2012 Expeditions have all had the keypads. I use it all the time when I go running.
I like the new system with numbers embedded in the glass much better than the old system with keypad numbers.
I really like the embedded numbers as well. I was a little disappointed my Maverick came with old school keypad on the pillar after having the bronco.

My dealer didn't mention anything, and I didn't notice while I checked her out. I suspect its a security code for the car? Do I need to call them back for that?
When my car arrived at the dealer they helped me set up the door code , sync and ford pass before I left. It's to lock / unlock. Ford Pass is great too for autostart in the colder months.

One thing to mention about Securicode is that there is a factory code, which comes on a card. It can also be displayed on the screen in the car when you follow a procedure in the manual with two already programmed keyfobs.

Via the Sync 3 settings (again, see the manual), you can program a custom Securicode entry code. This is particularly handy if a code is more memorable to you, or if you own multiple Ford vehicles with Securicode. My experience has been that this is stored in a non-volatile way (namely, if the battery dies, the custom securicode isn't wiped out and still works.)

Excellent answer! Thank you. You know, I will have to triple check later, but there only thing I found in my glove box was the owners manual, wrapped in plastic, with serveral other pieces of paper. I looked at something that was a "white card", it also had some sort of "upc" on it...but there was nothing on it that resembled a "code". I will triple check and update the thread. Otherwise, I will probably need that procedure to retrieve them, and then also to save my own (which would def be preferable to me). As an "IT guy", I have way too many 'codes', passwords, and 'sequences' to remember anyway. lol

The dealer was nice enough to set up Ford Pass on my phone, but they didn't go over a whole lot on the car. I sort of asked for that experience. I already knew I wanted the car. The price was supposedly agreed upon. I wanted them to get me in and out of there as quickly as possible. They took about an hour. Maybe less. Definitely less if you don't count the super quick test drive I took.

New to Ford? We’ve had this feature for decades. It’s extremely handy when you want to go for a run, to the beach, etc. without having to take your keys.

Ah yes, the pendulum effect. Heh.

From my understanding, if you lock the car using the door keypad it will not start again unless unlocked using the keypad even if the key fob is inside the vehicle. I've not tested this but remember reading that is how it was designed to prevent what you are describing.

I read this on a Ford website describing system operation for an older Ford vehicle (mid 2000 teens pickup I believe). However, I've tested it on mine and it does not function this way. You can read about my testing in this post detailing installation of a perimeter plus alarm.

My town is pretty small and I know the owner of the dealership so they take pretty good care of my family. They picked me up on a Sunday at the farm and opened the dealership to loan me a used Bronco they had on the lot for a week before I ordered mine to come in. Wyoming is pretty sparse for places so they really take care of us here.

No card in my vehicle either. Salesman called the next day and gave it to me.....
