Not many are even aware of their existence.
That’s true. Neal Doughty walked into his historical engineering class at University of Illinois and saw the name. They were starting a band and so he stole the name.

The band is our pride here in Central Illinois. They are coming to the State Fair and everyone 60 or older will be there.

Phil_R, I bought a new 1969 Plymouth Road Runner! 383 magnum, 4spd, 391 posi, coyote duster ( functional hood scoops). Bench seat, no air or power steering. Only owned it for a year as I went in the Navy and couldn't afford the payments. It was very fast and I had a lot of fun ;) with it.
Be worth a few $$$$ now a days! If we would of only known about Mecum & Barrett Jackson back then and what those cars would be worth today! But it might be hard to part with Les if you still had it!!!

You're right about that, Phil! After I went to my active duty station, I was contacted by the Naval law office. They were investigating the auto dealer and Chrysler credit for not honoring military customers who had to go on active duty and rework the contract so we could have kept the car. I didn't get the car back, but Chrysler credit and the dealer I bought the Roadrunner from got in serious trouble. Anyway, when I separated from the Navy in '71 I bought a '65 GTO! Lol! I kept that one for awhile! BTW, price of the Roadrunner, $2800.00 (approx.) The price I paid for the goat, $875.00! My dad had a friend at the local Ford dealer who gave me a deal.

Hell I'm just under 40 and I'd be there. I always assumed they got the name from the vehicle but never knew for sure. Interesting tidbit there.

Ford Galaxy 500 convertible was a really cool car. My uncle had one. He would pile as many of us as possible in the car and cruise around the neighborhood with the "top down". (A top down was our nickname for a convertible.) We would sit on the retracted soft top and inch our way down onto the trunk as we cruised around. Those were some fun times!

Another uncle had a Chrysler 300 convertible...also a really cool car. And he would drive us around as well.

Bring back the 80's luxury land yachts. I briefly owned a 1985 Buick Park Ave in the 00's and it was an unbelievably comfortable ride.

Edit: here's Hyundai's concept for an 80s-inspired electric car.
Looks like a K-car that saved Chrysler Dodge by Lee Iacoca.

This is gonna sound crazy but I would love for the Crown Victoria to come back. The panther platform was a well received group of land yachts that dominated the police and taxi cab fleets, as well as the older crowd. Many of you on here already know the success of this platform. I've always enjoyed the Crown Vic, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car. I know they don't seem retro enough since they were last produced only in 2011 but it does fit the criteria of the question.

At my work, I had an older lady pull up in a mint 1991 Lincoln Town Car in light blue with the navy blue interior with only 43,000 original miles on it! It was such a time capsule! She's even had offers from strangers to buy it off her hands for a premium and has turned them down. That's how much she loves it. My parents would think I'm nuts for wanting these back but I appreciate them, not so much them. They thought they were sinfully ugly boats but I've always had a soft spot for them.

That lady's Town Car looked very similar to this. I adore it!

I wouldn’t turn down any of the cars here, but one segment I keep looking at is the 80s-90s conversion vans. Rolling livingroom. Box on wheels so all the style is added aftermarket so in theory should be easy enough to put on a modern day Transit just as with a classic Econoline. But of course you never see such a thing nowadays…
