Anyone have product recommendations for getting waterspots off of the hood? I also have some light brush scratches I'd like to clean out of the paint and plastic on the front fender area. I've already tried to clay the hood, but it did not get all of the waterspot marks out. Both the scratches and the waterspots are light enough that my phone camera doesn't pick them up, but you can definitely see them. I'm getting ready to either wax or ceramic coat the vehicle, and don't want to put protectant down over known issues.

At the end of the day, this is an off-road vehicle so some marking is expected. The scuffs on the skid plates I'll leave with pride, but I'd like to be able to get the rest of the exterior looking pretty again when I want to.

Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover will work. I tried a couple other products and other methods but none worked.

Soak it in a decontamination bath first. Then wash. If the claybar still can't get it off with some detailing spray as a lubricant, then its a serious problem. You're probably going to have to invest in a dual action polisher and some foam pads, with some sort of cutting agent to get the paint defect out.

Clay bar for starters. If that don't work, then it's time for a deeper approach as suggested above with a polisher.

I'll have to give that a try, though I'm guessing I'll need to get a polisher anyway with the little scratches on the fender.

I assume the brush marks are from a car wash? It's best to avoid the car wash. Damaging the paint is what they do best.
:crackup: Quite the helpful post. And NO!! brush marks as in the little scratches you get from the brush alongside 4WD trails like the photo below, just more overgrown.

Anyone had luck with the plastic fender bits?

You can sometimes "heal" plastic parts with a heat gun. Heat it up enough and it'll flow into the scratches. Heat it up too much, however, and it'll melt. Careful is the watchword.

Take pride in your pinstripes. We've earned them. That's what a BS is made for. Lucky it is narrow enough that it doesn't scratch as badly as the Big Bronco.

Water spots. Mine had very bad water spots. The dealer detail guy said he could not polish them out without risking burning through the paint.

69cuda recommended Meguirs 3 in 1 wax. It worked, he did his by hand I used an orbital polisher.
