I'm reading through the July Waiting Room and getting more and more concerned about the chip shortage. Hope we don't wind up in the same uncertain boat those folks are. So ready for this vehicle to exist so I can stop worrying.
Yeah, I have been watching that too. I am just trying to stay optimistic about it.

Received notification today from Ford that my build date has been moved from September 12 to August 22!

My dealer sent me a text message about two weeks ago stating Ford had given them an ETA of 10/3-10/9. Does that sound right?

I wouldn't worry about yours too much, Ford is building and shipping BS with the same level trim and options as ours after ours were held with a chip shortage. Probably some issue with the modules coded for our VINs didn't arrive or something.

Six weeks from production to delivery sounds about right. It could be faster depending on how far it needs to go or longer if there’s a sudden commodity constraint.

New to the forums, and appreciate everybody's insight - and share in the impatience. After reading through pages of these threads, trying to identify where additional information is coming from - I've tried most of the links on the sticky threads, and did receive VIN and order number from my dealer a couple weeks ago.

I can now see an official "order confirmation" showing there for 6/13, but no window sticker yet on https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking . Dealer told me they have an ETA of 10/12; which now seems optimistic. The only emails I've received from Ford have been around Roadeo locations.

Should I be getting communications from Ford? Where are you getting scheduled build dates? The web site indicates this should be identified if I have a VIN.

TIA

Picked up my OB in Area 51 today! Ordered 2-28-22, built 6-02-22. The Area 51 looks a bit darker than some pictures I’ve seen, but it was a rainy, overcast day. I hear that they look lighter in the sunlight. Also bought the Ford Premium Protection Plan.

As someone that put in an order with having no experience or background on how the whole process works, I found a ton of information through this forum.

The biggest takeaway over the 6 month (and growing) order process is that there is no process. Everyone's experiences are a bit different. Putting all the good vibes out there that you have a good one. Here's my quick overview.

Ford Email Communications
- "Order Confirmation" when the order was confirmed by Ford. If you didn't - the dealer likely didn't put your Email in with the order and likely won't get any Emails directly from Ford.
- "Scheduled for Production" this is the Email they'll send when you have a scheduled week for production. This is the Email you'll get your VIN. So, if you already have the VIN - there should be a scheduled week for production.
- "Built" - I haven't gotten this yet ha but, it's when the vehicle is officially built
- "Shipped" - This Email will be when the vehicle is shipped and I believe there is an estimated delivery window

https://ordertrack.app/ is a great resource. It is an aggregate tracker that has links to the Ford tracker as well as your modules and window sticker, when available.

Modules - will start activating once it's basically produced and the computer turned on. Normally, I would have said when "built" but, also learning they'll still turn on even if a chip is missing. So "produced" as Ford would say.

Window Sticker - Won't be available until the "Invoice Date" which is about a week or 2 before it is "produced"

The in-production to shipped should really only be a couple of weeks max. But, learning it can vary.

Lastly - you can try Ford Customer Service chat to get some additional information. They won't have any deep dark secrets but, helpful for peace of mind and general updates on scheduled builds.

There is a ton more out there about the whole process - but these are the key points I've learned and benefited from! Hope it helps a bit.

Is the Tow package still as big a constraint on the BS? I know on the Bronco its basically unobatinable, but it seems like its not quite as big an issue with the BS. I ordered mine today with the tow package, but if its going to cause significant delays just for that, I will probably let the dealer know to drop it off my order.

There aren’t any reports of anything being a constraint right now for the BS. Some people that had build dates around 4 July have been put on a chip hold but nobody knows what chip is missing. Basically the vehicles are built and sitting in a lot waiting for a chip. What’s interesting is other BSs are rolling off the assembly line and getting delivered while theirs is still waiting.

Short answer is it’s a crap shoot on when you will get scheduled no matter what options you pick.

Thanks, thats good to hear as I really do want the towing package for a small trailer to do yard work, haul mulch, etc. Maybe a tear drop camper in the future.

I guess I’m the newbie to the Waiting Room. I just ordered yesterday.

Bronco Sport Badlands
  • Cactus Gray
  • Carbonized Gray Roof
  • Premium Package
  • Towing Package
  • Ford 360
  • Cargo Shelf
I haven’t received any confirmation emails yet but I expect that will happen in the next day or two.
Ugh, I ordered yesterday and aside from the Carbonized Roof, I have the exact same order. I see that you are still waiting for a VIN. Not boading well for me as MY23 production isn't even supposed to start until November...

I would not drop it off unless you really don’t need it or want to add it later which can be done. The biggest issue for some is getting the bumper cut out looking nice. However, it is one of the easier things to add later.

The higher the trim and the more options you have create a larger risk for delay. As Eric said though, it’s still a bit of a crap shoot. There are plenty of Full-size being delivered with towing. Almost everyone I’ve seen recently has it. But the sway control portion of the towing package has definitely caused some delays but not as much as 360+. All options using electronics add up to potential delivery delays.

My first vehicle order / new vehicle as well. I certainly learned a lot about the dealer process and 'allocation' process and must say, not impressed in the slightest and seems exceedingly outdated in today's technology landscape.

But still, totally agree about this being a valuable resource on so many levels. Great support from everyone and should be a productive environment for the life of all of our vehicles!

I've had the unfortunate pleasure of being here for a bit and there have been "odd" build orders here and there. It has seemed a couple times like it my be 360+ and/or the tow package, but there truly has been no rhyme or reason I have come across. Certainly not like that of the big Bronco where they stated to customers about certain limitations. Order what you need out of the vehicle and we'll all be looking back at these times as a distant memory from our Bronco Sports soon enough.

Yeah, I was hoping to order a Bronco but with the pause that meant probably a good year delay, and that’s too long. 4-6 months, I can deal with that.

Don’t let my experience taint your enthusiasm for placing an order. I will say that your order is not at a great time of year, though if you look at my example neither was March. You have ordered after they stopped taking orders for MY ā€˜22. So, you know for sure that the earliest yours will be built is in November. I wouldn’t expect for it to happen that soon though. Not that it couldn’t happen but I would rather be pleasantly surprised that it happened, rather than expect it then and be disappointed.

The thing is that pretty much no matter what vehicle you order right now, it’s going to be at least a 4 month wait. Some are much longer but the shortest is about 4 months. If you really want the BS, then I would think that the potential of 6-8 months isn’t that much more. Maybe there is some other vehicle you would be just as happy with and is within your means?
