Hah, that's a great description of those things. Otherwise I like what I see on the new Land Cruiser and can't wait to test drive one next year.
I definitely plan on checking the LC out in person as well. I’m curious to see this vs. the 4 runner & Tacoma. Ford certainly nailed it with the BS, but a fixed roof full size Bronco would certainly be nice. Or just bring us the Everest already.

Not a fan of the LC or the Sante Fe.

I looked at the Santa Fe Caligraphy. $48K discounted. It was nice with a lot of nice options such as when using a turn signal, a camera shows the lane in the gauge area which is all digital. Other nice items too. Even at $48K, a nice vehicle considering the costs of similarly equipped other SUVs but it was a pass for me.

I'm curious how the LC's alleged 27 combined MPG will hold up in real-world driving. My biggest complaints with the Badlands B.S. are a) power hesitation even with 93 fuel [see the megathread about it] and b) low quality interior materials that may or may not hold up. The Land Cruiser will also have a four banger with a turbo, so I wonder if it'll exhibit similar characteristics when accelerating, or if this is strictly a Ford Ecoboost thing.

I see many people on the social media saying it looks like a Bronco Sport...I guess it somewhat does. it all carries the tall cabin design and a modern classic look. it certainly is much bigger than the BS but smaller than the out going model. Lack of ground clearance (8.7") to be a Land Cruiser....but I think they are building these with post purchase mods in mind. 'cus that is just a little less than a BS Badlands.

Certainly is a much more expensive vehicle...even they lowered the price from the out going model.

have you also seen the new Santa Fe?

every manufacturer is on the square look trend now. they will likely have a rugged/off-road version of this one.
Counting the days to get rid of my Bronco Sport for the Land Cruiser...... can't wait!

I will cross my fingers in the hopes of getting 10 years out of our BS.
The LC I could pass on to my not yet born grandchildren...if we win the lottery I wouldn't hesitate to part ways with the BS to have the LC in my driveway. I think it is a very attractive design.

I think the BS copied the Land Rover a little bit. I know after I ordered mine, I mistook a few Land Rovers for Sports until I learned to recognize the difference.

I like the size and gas mileage of the BS. I have a F-250 for when I'm hauling people and gear, but most of the time it is just me.

I've always envied the reliability of Toyotas, but their gas mileage hasn't been impressive. Maybe their LC is fixing that. The price tag would probably keep me from getting one.

That figure has me intrigued as well. My next truck will be a size bigger so if I could achieve the same or better mileage with more size & comfort, that sounds like an easy win to me! I know the current Tacoma gets some bad comments for comfort & seating position, but preliminary videos seem to indicate that might be fixed for the 24. If the LC has a great seating position too.

I’m not sure about the power hesitation though as the only turbo engines I’ve driven are Ford eco boost. I assume that’s just a driving characteristic of all small 4 turbos but I could be wrong. It’s certainly a different feel compared to say a NA V6.

Now all of this will come at a cost. I’m fortunate to not be as budget limited as some & believe any increase in cost if amortized over a decade or more of ownership, will not be a great deal. Of course a NA V6 is available in the Lexus version but I suspect that might start to test even my budget.

The world is sure going towards boxy off-road (or at least off road looking) vehicles, good on Ford for predicting the trend & building in more capability beyond just black plastic accents.

Looks good. I just wonder, how many recalls will have?

If my price range for purchase was in the mid 40's to 50's, I would be driving a full size Bronco. The LC and Santa Fe are too pricey for me.

I’m not a fan of the “cheeks” under the headlights. That said, boxy is clearly in. I guess that makes us style pioneers!
Those cheeks look like they were made in someone's garage and slapped on.

I've always liked the boxy look. Found it more practical than those "hatchback" designs everyone seems to have. That's one reason I had Jeep Patriots for the last 16 years before buying my "boxy" BSBB.

In the top picture the black "cheeks" don't look bad, hardly noticeable, but the Blue colored one stand out so much makes me want to vomit.
