Any limitations on using the factory tow package with a tow eye in the 2" receiver?

It depends. There are towing limitations listed in your owner's manual. I'm not aware of any published limitations on using the hitch for recovery operations, but keep in mind this is not a body-on-frame vehicle, it's a unibody frame. The hitch is bolted to the unibody, but I think you could yank on it hard enough to bend things that aren't supposed to bend. Like I said: it depends.

I don't have the tow package so I didn't pay too much attention to this part in the owner's manual.

I will say Ford sells a part like this. The rear tow eye hole is also covered on factory installed tow hitches.

If you have front tow hooks, I would definitely use that before this, if possible.

Old thread, but was looking this up, I guess I'll take a second look in mine (purchased used) but I didn't see it first look around the spare.

These are also helpful when having a vehicle flat towed so the tow truck guy doesn't grab random stuff with a j-hook.

FWIW: I have a Heritage Limited, which is supposed to be basically a Badlands with the Heritage color scheme...2L, suspension, etc. And the Badlands (and not other models) has the provision for the screw-in hook behind that little cover in the rear bumper fascia.
Guess what: They did NOT include that provision in the Heritage Ltd! So I'm screwed...or not screwed, since there's no place to screw it!

If you have factory hitch it covers the hole for the tow hook, so you need a receiver mounted tow attachment.

Should still be the same bumper. The access should be a pop out piece of black plastic just above the right red reflector/light. If you zoom my picture you can just make it out. Mine does me no good since I have the factory tow package that covers/blocks the underside of it, but I located when I had a 2022 without the tow package.

Yup, that’s part of the hitch. It’s covering the threaded hole in the “bumper”.
