You can order the latest map update from Ford delivered on a USB, $40
Thanks. I found it on my Ford site and ordered it. I'd try the download thing which was tough for me on the Ranger but did succeed The 22251 setup scares me. I don't have any problems with it and don't want to push it with a manual download try.

Does anybody know the downfalls of using Cyanlabs to update Sync 3? Will it void the warranty or affect anything else? Just wondering why people are hesitant to use the update on Cyanlabs if it fixes the 22251 issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe you can "brick" your system by trying to load software, but it's possible. What's more likely is a miswrite of the software rendering your system inoperable. In this case, the hardware is fine, but the software is garbled. In either case, any repairs--replacing hardware or rewriting the software--would not be covered if Ford discovered the failure resulted from your attempt to install aftermarket software.

New maps are now out, but no Sync 3 update. I am assuming that installing the new maps version will not fix the V 22251 issues. Is that correct?
The new version FROM Ford will be released end of September to fix the issues with the 3.4.22251 RWDATA . I spoke to them directly yesterday (spoke to Ford, they will be releasing the 23088 update) Also, you can update to 3.4.23088 or 3.4.23188 (this version fixes the log issues/RWDATA issues) from CyanLabs. It will work for MY20 APIMS also, just follow the instructions. I have no plans on updating my maps to 2022 Nav until I update my Sync to the 3.4.23188 which I will be doing this weekend. Others have reported on CyanLabs that there have been no issues with the 3.4.23188 version and it has solved the RWDATA/Log issues that was causing problems with the 3.4.22251 build.

Thank You for all the information. I would love to know what is taking Ford so long to release a fix. This is affecting any Ford vehicle that has Sync 3 with update 22251. I feel bad for the people out of warranty who are being told they need a new APIM to fix the issue, and ended up paying out of pocket for a part that won't fix the issue.

It will not void the warranty and it does fix the issues with the 22251 version just follow the instructions on the cyan labs website

The software(ie Sync versions) from CyanLabs is not aftermarket per se, it is from Ford but perhaps not released to public just yet. With that information CyanLabs is NOT endorsed by Ford and you are using their system at your own risk. I think this is why many choose not to use the cyan labs syn 3 updater tool and program. I recommend if you want more information on this to go to the cyanlabs.net website and read the posts in the community regarding various upgrades, issues, etc.

Thank You again....Now the last question. I know I am a pest, but if I update using Cyanlabs now, will I still be able to get future updates through Ford, or am I locked in to Cyanlabs updates forever?

I am pretty sure you can still update from the Ford website. It's all the same files that Ford releases, somehow CyanLabs gets them out there before Ford.

I think some clarification is warranted. This warning appears on the download page at Cyanlabs:

THIS APPLICATION (SYN3 UPDATER) IS NOT LICENSED, ENDORSED OR ASSOCIATED WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY!
It's accurate to say use of this software will not void your warranty in the same way it's accurate to say installing any aftermarket part will not void your warranty. You can install, say, an aftermarket catch can and your powertrain warranty remains intact. If, however, you have any difficulties with your engine, Ford will make a determination if the catch can you installed caused them. If it did, then whatever repairs are necessary will not be covered by your warranty. The same is true with this software: If you install it and your SYNC system becomes inoperative, required repairs will NOT be covered by your warranty. Your warranty is not voided--any problems you may have with the engine, brakes, etc. are still covered--but Ford is not obligated to fix problems you create.

adding to this CyanLabs updater is done exactly to Ford methods, there is not jailbreaking of any sort. The methods are the exact same to update ...From the Cyan Labs website: Packages that you will install are Ford’s, CyanLabs just created a tool to facilitate the access to them lets say.

I have no doubt that many people install this software and experience no issues. Whether this is Ford's software or not, however, if someone experiences an issue during or after installation Ford will not be responsible to fix it.

I am sure some have had issues. It is Ford Sync versions, the updater on the cyanlabs site is not related or

Agree, that's why it's noted to be done at ones own risk. I just wish Ford would get on the ball and release the fix publicly sooner than later as the issues with the 22251 build have been going on for far too long. Ford has released the software to the point CyanLabs can find it , but yet Ford doesn't release it.

This is an assumption. Since it's not officially released by Ford we don't know what version of the software Cyanlabs has.

We also don’t really know for sure how cyan labs gets the Sync software and what if any changes cyan labs might make. Nor do we know if any testing was done by cyan labs on Ford vehicles. If my vehicle was an older model, not maintained by Ford and I absolutely needed a Sync update then I would go the cyan labs route.

I’m just as unhappy with Ford over the 3.4.22251 issues as anyone else.

Time for a call to Ford for release information on the update to correct the Build 22251 issues.

I was told today, we are still looking at late September or earlier for the update to be released.
