Ordered chrome ones from DP a few days ago. Such a cheap and easy piece of mind to buy. Replace them yourself if you have access to a torque wrench or hand them to the service dept the next time your tires are rotated.

My brother has a ~2018 F-150 that ended up with swollen lug nuts. Because of his ordeal in getting his wheels off (two shops -- one failed and the other refused to even try), I knew exactly what this thread title meant.

Prior to his experience, I had never heard of such a thing. It's amazing how engineers are constantly finding new ways to screw up stuff that has worked fine for 100 years. On the one hand, we get cool stuff like navigation systems. On the other hand, they literally figured out a way to completely bungle a lug nut.

Outrageous that they're still using these 2-piece lug nuts.

These are on my list for a swap in the next several months.
Probably saving. 0001 cent per nut. ?

I thought I'd ask again (from post 41):

Question: Is there a difference in durability between the chrome and black finish?

I'm leaning toward black, but chrome would look OK, so it comes down to durability.

For those getting the black lugnuts for replacement, what are you doing for the security lugnut with the lock?
I keep mine in the tray where the spare tire is. But you could put it anywhere like the glovebox or deep in the center console.

Nope; just looks.
