Pretty much all snorkels you have to cut the fender to feed through to the air box. The BS is too small of a vehicle to ever need one. Even the front fender liners allow water and mud and shit to get thrown into the engine bay and onto components the way they have it. Remember going through water creates a bow wave and the water at the front is a few inches higher or more than the rear. So 18ā€ of standing water can be 24ā€ or more on the front end because of speed, obstacles, dips, etc. Honestly with all the electronics on my BS BL. I wheel it, but I’m not taking it through water higher than a few inches. I don’t trust it

One other thing people don’t consider when driving in deep water…your car may float and then loose traction.
The road by my work has flooded a few times in heavy rain and we get to see cars try to drive thru it. The water might only be 12-18ā€ deep but they start to float, loose traction, and then are at the mercy of the water.

for what it’s worth…. I forded about 2ft of water with no issue. I wouldn’t go deeper than that (I have lift) but it was above the bottom of my doors which I would think would be at the point you are mentioning?

Just as an aside ;-).

of course…. I am full of hot air, or so I’m told, and the water was cold. Maybe I was generating enough pressure differential by talking to my wife to offset the water getting through.

I know a guy who did a snork on his hummer.
Ruined a leather interior and did all kinds of electrical and electronic damage.
He didn’t think about water coming in through door seals and where the foot pedals and cables go thru the firewall.
Had it dragged out of the woods with a farm tractor.
Ya jest cain’t fix Stupid~~~~~

again, a whole lot of uninformed opinions on here. ā€œI wouldn’t do thisā€ and ā€œI don’t think this shouldā€¦ā€ are opinions, period.
I have forded many, many times, with numerous vehicles over the years and I’m just looking to see if one is available. Anyone’s opinion on whether I should or not means zero to me. There is extra doors seals on the badlands as well as other things to change the fording depth over a non badlands.
Regardless, I just want to know if one is available, where, how much. Then I will decide if I want it.

Don’t mean to be rude, but if you don’t know what you’re talking about, your opinions might sway someone else’s mind incorrectly.
For example, I’m a retire tech and have had guys try to tell me ā€œengines need back pressureā€ and argued with me clearly showing they have no clue what they are talking about. After explaining why engines NEVER ā€œNEEDā€ backpressure, they finally understood. Their knowledge was based on anecdotal evidence (and wife’s tales) and not experience or more importantly, critical thinking/diagnosing skills.

I agree. Jokes aside … could a snorkel even be practical for the BS? In my research, Australia YouTube videos have been very educational.
1. Dust is heavy, thus the more common reason for a snorkel . Baja 1000 anyone?
2. If not sealed properly water will get directly into the air intake anyway…so having a snorkel is no guarantee.
3. IMO Lifted 1.5ā€-3ā€ will be good for the creek crossings I plan to do. I do live in a flood zone though.
4. I forgot what 4 was…..going to bed now.
Good night alll

There's an old thread here where a guy forded through water that was within the water line limit posted by Ford. However, he fried one of the electrical boxes (maybe the PCM or ECM) and it took several months and a legal battle to finally get Ford to honor the warranty coverage.

For that reason, I'll stick to water puddles and Florida sunshine.

EDIT UPDATE:

Found the link. Read what this BS owner went through before you tread water or add a snorkle:
