Took the Premier plan for 10/100,000 on my BL (I know, lots of folks will think I’m silly). My reasoning is that with my luck the most expensive things (trans, RDU, computers, A/C, etc) will crap out at some point and I don’t want repair bills (76 and I figure this is my last vehicle).
Just after 3/36 warranty expired had to replace both rear shocks — covered; not super expensive, but got me started on recouping the warranty cost.

Same idea. I drive a lot and it was an unknown for reliability with it being a newer model for Ford. I did Premium for 7 years/150k

I got same plan 10/100,000. I doubt I will get to 100,000 miles but wanted the peace of mind. Do you mean that rear shocks were covered under your Premier plan? Just replaced the rear shocks a couple of months ago on my son's 20 Escape. We were told that it is a maintenace item and not covered under the ESP.

I just downloaded their brochure - and will compare that with Granger and the other sources. I appreciate the link ??
Ford ESP is the same coverage from any authorized Ford ESP Provider. Granger, Flood and Zeigler are 3 competitive options to look at for cost

Look for promo codes to save money: example, PAYINFULL has been the best PROMO CODE for Zeigler with savings of $250 for paying cash (or credit card)

PremiumCARE
ExtraCARE
BaseCARE
PowertrainCARE

Flood Ford
Granger Motors Ford
Zeigler Auto Group

Questions to ask:
Is this PremiumCARE coverage?
What is the Deductible?

Make sure to ask if these are included if coverage is of interest to you:
Keyfob coverage? (This tends to be expensive)
Interior/Exterior Lighting Option option? (LED lights on the Bronco sport are expensive so selecting this opinion is prudent)
Does not delete first day rental option?
What is the Rental car allowance?
(Rental car allowance: up to $35/day for max 10 days or $60/day for max 10 days for a covered repair.) (these numbers were from several years ago so are out of date)
Which Roadside coverage is provided?
Pickup & Delivery Option?

There is an extra cost for lighting, keys, and rentals. However, since the LED lighting are so expensive, I always just go with the lights.

Yeah, dealer said one was leaking so they replaced both (tried to talk them into fronts too — no dice). They initially said that the weren’t covered under the warranty so I took my copy of the plan in and showed them in black and white that they were covered. Only had to pay my deductible.

Before I start down this potential rabbit hole -

has anyone shopped for an extended warranty, and filtered it down by the most common issues seen/reported here, and elsewhere?

I have a paid off ‘23 big bend w/ 26k miles, and I’m in the final stages of making it perfect for my hobbies.

ideally – I’d like to be able to select a minimalist extended service plan to cover the most common issues that we have all seen here, taking me out to 60k or so…

Thanks in advance if anyone has done this, and is willing to share what they came up with..
I've only got 16,500 miles on my 22 BSBB. The 36 month warranty is up in Oct. Waiting for the new Jeep to come out to replace it but since there's been delays I might have to keep it an extra year. I called Ford on an extended warrenty plan. Only wanted 1 yr but she only quoted me 2 yrs and only up to when it hits 36K. $1850 bucks. I'll pass and put that money towards the new Jeep.

73 and retired now, just bought out lease and purchased Ford Premium Care except for 6 year and 50K more miles on top of original warranty. My 2022 BS Badlands just turned 11K after returning from Florida in March.

At least you still have the powertrain warranty 5yr/60,000. Calling Ford directly was a mistake. There are several Ford dealers that sell the Ford ESP online. Zeigler, Granger, Flood to mention a few. The way you would get a quote online is to put your information in the quote and select the options you want. For instance if you were looking for an additional year you would actually look for a 4 year plan since the ESP's start from the vehicle in service date.

For instance with Ziegler using your information a 4yr 36,000 miles for a PremiumCare plan with a $50 deductible after promo code PAYINFULL I got a cost of $635 before any additional options like additional rental reimbursement or exterior/interior lighting or Key Service. Additionally if you purchase a longer term plan it is possible that you could get a prorated refund for the unused portion. I do not know exactly how the refund is calculated but I think how much the plan had to pay out may be a factor.

Good advice above.

Someone mentioned "peace of mind." Some people like knowing that repair costs (if any) are capped -- that can be a good reason to purchase an extended warranty. Buyers like the idea that their repair costs are limited to the total of: 1) the cost of the warranty; 2) interest paid (and/or foregone); 3) deductibles. Even though they realize that they will most likely lose money on the deal, the tradeoff is worth it to them.

For everyone else, buying a warranty is "betting against the house". The underwriter has all of the failure rate and repair cost data. They are fully aware that certain parts are stupid expensive and fail more often. They know, on average, how much repairs on any given make/model will cost, and they charge some healthy multiple of that amount.

They hold the cards. The only way to gain some advantage is if the buyer knows that their use, while not "abuse", is severe enough that their BS will likely have more than the average number of failures.

By definition, there must be many more 'losers' than 'winners' for the underwriter to stay in business. Of course, we usually only hear from the winners, who are more than happy to post about how much money they saved. The losers generally stay silent. So the overall impression is that extended warranties are an excellent deal.

To the extent possible, people might consider being self-insured wherever possible. Most of us have no choice but to have homeowner's; health; and auto insurance because the potential loss is so great. For some people that might include a warranty for auto repairs, but for those that can afford to cover any repairs outside the factory warranty out of pocket, that will be less expensive for the majority of people.

Of course, at some price point, any insurance or extended warranty would become a good deal -- but if the policy was sold for an amount that would make most buyers 'winners' the underwriter would quickly go broke. That said, it sounds like Granger (and a few others) are selling at a significant discount. It's still betting against the house but at least the potential loss is less.

And you have the ability to get a refund of some amount for unused portion of the Ford ESP if the vehicle is sold (potentially further reducing any potential loss)

Got almost $500 refund from flood on my 2019 Ranger extended warranty. Rolled it into warranay on a 2025 big bend. Was able to do it all online. Flood was the same price as Granger
