This evening news had the 2 recalls listed. Oil separator and air bag.
They listed 2021 and 2022 Ford Escape "ONLY". But no Bronco Sports.
Who knows what Ford is doing ? Yes they have the same 1.5 engine
Only time will tell. :frown: or :fingerscrossed:

Are all BS with the 1.5l 3cyl included in this recall? Because I haven't gotten it as far as I know. I was just on FordPass this morning.
Yes the 1.5 cyl. Is the one under the recall.

Let's look at Ford's announcement on the issue :

The automaker is recalling 345,451 of its 2020-2022 Ford Escape and 2021-2022 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles with 1.5L engines because the engine oil separator housing could crack and develop an oil leak that might cause an engine fire

So the total 345,451 includes the Escape and Bronco Sport.
Maybe some of us (or many) may not be included.
And notices will not be mailed out until April 15.

I've gotten this too. They said if it failed this inspection, then they'd have to order the parts, and they wouldn't know how long it would take to get them. They said they wouldn't reschedule me for the fix until after the parts have been received.

So where does one look for cracks/leaking oil, would it be noticeable?

I kind of inspected mine, no leaks or cracks. Bolts holding it in are snug, not overtightened. I don't know what I'm really looking for though.

instead of the catch can, can ford replace the brakes that whine like a tug boat when you reverse… or maybe for the entire vehicle vibrating at 1500 RPM due to that shift cable or whatever that my car isn’t included in…
Yeah, no kidding right? Every time I reverse and step on the brake it sounds like a fog horn.

Many years ago, longer than I can remember
Inspecting well casing and steel driveshaft couplings for hairline cracks
Soak in gasoline
Remove and allow to air dry
Hairline cracks would remain "wet" and noticeable
Might work on plastic but not really sure
Think I read somewhere it was a failure between the two halves of the unit
