OBX with 20K miles. No problem YET with RDU. But I was concerned that the TSB is applied AFTER you have the problem. Assessment of possible damage caused by intrusion of water etc from original vent tube design causing " contamination of RDU fluid " not part of TSB. No idea of what damage may have occurred. Ford is replacing fluid and keeping their and your fingers crossed.
I didn't wait. Paid for TSB at 20K miles. I got new style vent tube and fluid replacement. Now only my fingers are crossed.
In and out of the dealer in 1 hr. Cost around $230. Good insurance or waste of money?

The TSB only really works if caught super early. I had it done, and it only got worse. They immediately ordered and replaced the RDU and passenger rear axle. Since you haven't had any issues, I would say it is good peace of mind. On the other hand, the differential would be covered until 60k miles so I would probably roll the dice instead of spending my own money to fix their problem.

can someone post a pic of what the updated tube looks like? i want to see what my 24' has currently.

my thought is, if I'm covered until 60k might as well wait it out and if i have issues i can get a whole new unit or whatever is messed up.

You can look up the TSB directly from Ford, and they show pictures and descriptions on how to fix for their mechanics. This is the link:

Agree 100%....they changed my oil and tube and it didn't help....took it back and they replaced the diff. All good now.

I read that the new tube was factory installed on all 2023 and 2024 models
