Any solutions in the foreseeable horizon?
I checked my VIN and my BL has the same Sync 3.4 Build 22251. It was just finished being built on the 18th of June. Awaiting shipping.
The solution for the foreseeable future appears to hinge on Ford releasing Sync 3.4 Build 23088 or later version that corrects the issues described in this post. There is no ETA for that however.

Or owners could use Cyan Labs software and tools now to load 23088 on their own vehicles. I don’t plan on using Cyan Labs.

Thank you. Sorry for being uninformed, but why would you use Cyan Labs? What exactly is that?

Your Bronco Sport runs SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 on the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). The specific version on your Bronco Sport can be seen using the Settings menu and it might be:

Build 22251 PRODUCT

Cyan Labs provides tools and procedures which allows you to update the SYNC 3 software on your vehicle. This info is from their website:

“Syn3 Updater is a is a Windows application created to make the upgrade process of the Ford SYNC 3 in your car as simple as possible.

Syn3 Updater will allow you to download the latest version of SYNC 3 and automatically prepare the USB Drive ready for you to insert into your car. This application prevents user error from wrongly formatted or partitioned USB drives and will ensure the correct SYNC 3 update method is used.”

https://cyanlabs.net/fhub/

I have read their Tutorials and Procedures which you would also want to do in order to familiarize yourself. There are other posts on bronco sport forum as well which you can review.

For reasons unknown to me, Ford has not released Build 23088 PRODUCT for the Bronco Sport that fixes issues documented in this post for Build 22251 PRODUCT (issues with 22251 are also documented on the Cyan Labs website).

Yet is is possible to use Cyan Labs to update to 23088.

If you decide to use Cyan Labs just become familiar with the pros and cons.

There are many Ford vehicle owners that use Cyan Labs including some Bronco Sport owners and I’m sure some will comment further regarding your question.

I received confirmation today (7/5/2023) from Ford for the case # I filed on the Sync 3.4 Build 22251 issues: “the Sync update to correct issues in 22251 will become available in a couple of weeks”

The Ford person did not know if the Ford Sync update will be called 23088 (as it is on Cyan Labs website) or would be a different Sync Build #.

Because I turned off automatic updates, I will check https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/ starting in a few weeks.

I’m not sure if there’s a duplicate build of 23088, but I was wondering if they make the firmware version the same number would the APIM have the same exact problem? I have a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid and it’s been causing me a lot of problems with losing various settings after every key cycle.

There is more info about Ford releasing a bogus Sync 3.4 Build 23088 on Cyan Labs and at the link below. I can’t confirm any Bronco Sport owner received that version via Sync’s automatic update (over WiFi) but most certainly there are other Ford vehicle owners (e.g. F-150 owners, etc). that were affected. If interested, Google “23088” and you’ll find lots more info. The 23088 version now available on Cyan Labs corrects the Sync issues as you will see by reading current info on Cyan Labs website. I am still waiting for Ford to release the next Sync update that corrects issues in 22251.

What version are you running on your Escape?

Every installation of 3.4 build 22251 will eventually have the rwdata partition issue. If you frequently plug your phone in to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, this will accelerate the issue.

Once the rwdata partition fills up, settings will default and other issues mentioned in this thread will occur.

Understand, I do plug in my phone but don’t use Apple CarPlay.

I spoke with Ford Sync 3 support today looking for any update on solutions. I was told that Ford is now aware of the build 22251 issues.

A solution (build 23088?) will be available towards the end of September.

The F150 forum is blowing up with NHTSA complaints and class-action lawsuit threats.

See post #50, I was told 7/5/2023 Ford would release the update “in 3 weeks” (and Ford has been aware of the 22251 issues for many months before that) so before end of July would be the update. I see they are telling you a different story.

Omg wow… That’s gonna be a pretty long time from now. I have an issue with my passenger-side window going up but randomly going down. Has anyone reported this issue related to Sync 3.4.22251?

Nope. Sync does not control any windows.
