Powerstop Brakes

For those of you that went with Powerstop brake pads, which part number did you go with? They list 4 different ones that are comapatible:
Z36
Z23
Z17
Z16

I realize the Z36 is for towing which I never will do. But curious on others feedback.

I went with the Z23 variant for low dust but have not had the opportunity to install yet. ~$120 delivered from RockAuto for all 4 corners. The vehicle is my commuter and the wildest place I go with it is downtown Washington DC. Traffic is slow and arduous.

I would just go with ceramic pads unless you enjoy spending extra money. You're not going to do the sustained braking at high speeds, over and over and over again, like you would on a track, that would necessitate carbon fiber pads.

Same with drilled and slotted rotors. No need on a street vehicle.

UPDATE *** I got around to installing the Z23 pads, broken in and a couple hundred miles on them. They are quieter and smoother than OE.

My BS has the first iteration original rear brake moan recall “fix.” Upon removing the pins, I noticed there was effectively no lube left. I decided to try aftermarket pads because of dust as previously mentioned but also my OE rear brakes had returned to making the infamous moan. So, I cleaned and liberally lubricated components. Now to monitor how long, or if the moan returns.

braking performance is lacking in my mind on these cars.

I had the Powerstop Z17-2300 (front) and Z17-1833A (rear) installed in January of 2023. Noticeable increase in stopping confidence and marked decrease in brake dust. I do wish I had upgraded my rotors (not slotted or drilled, just better). Stock Ford brakes are - as the kids say - mid.

I installed the ceramic pads and slotted rotors from PowerStop, as well as the upgraded bushing kit from Ford. I didn't notice a marked improvement on braking, the OEM set up was just as good. Where the OEM fell short was the brake dust generated by the pads. Alot of it and hard to clean. The ceramic pads make half the dust and cleans up better, the dust isn't as sticky and most of it can be rinsed off with a nozzle and good pressure. The moan initially went away but after 4-5 hundred miles it returned, not as pronounced but still there. I chalk it up to the humid nights here in Florida, just no way around that if you park outside. As far as how long the PS rotors and pads last is still unknown, so far I have about 12K on them and they still still look new.

My brakes are still more or less new, but when the time comes, I'm going with a Powerstop kit has I have in the past. Quieter, MUCH less brake dust to deal with and they stop on a dime
