I am very surprised to hear people believe that a car dealer would not give them warranty service if they purchased the vehicle from another dealer. The dealerships get paid by Ford (or any other brand) for any warranty work that they do. Yes, you do get some emotional credit for buying from the dealer that is going to service it, but overall I have never had a dealer turn up their nose because I didn't buy from them for either warranty claims or other work.
People have different experiences, I'm glad to hear yours have been positive.

All I can say is that based on several negative personal experiences, and what I have read and heard over the years (decades), it is common for dealers to -- at a minimum -- be 'reluctant' (putting it very mildly) to do warranty work on a vehicle they did not sell. Particularly if the selling dealer is relatively close by, within (say) a couple hours.

I've had to threaten arbitration to get work done -- and I was being very reasonable. I said they could do it at their leisure. I was not demanding it be done that day, or even that month. They clearly had an attitude because I bought it from a competitor. I had actually given them a chance to make the sale first, and they turned me down. Otherwise, I would have bought from them -- not that it should matter.

I've read posts by numerous people in the business (multiple mfrs) who say that warranty work pays significantly less -- both parts and labor. If their shop is full with paying customers waiting, from their perspective they are *losing* money on a warranty repair. Oddly, even if their techs are sitting around doing nothing, some dealers are *still* grumpy about doing warranty work!

Their beef is really with the mfr, but they take it out on the customer. Like divorced parents using the children to get back at each other.

One factor that might explain why your experience differs from others is location. My wife and I have family in Iowa. They say the reluctance to perform warranty repairs is not as prevalent there. Perhaps because, generally speaking, people treat each other better there.

Here on the East Coast, it's 'dog eat dog'. Ethics are a relic. Businesses are much less concerned about customer service because urban areas are more transitory -- esp. D.C. They know there's a good chance that a particular customer will not return, and there are plenty more to take their place.

The RV industry is even *worse*. Dealers will flat-out refuse to work on a rig that was not purchased from them. They often keep RVs that need warranty repairs for *months*!

If mfrs would pay more for warranty service much of the trouble could be avoided.

Both the salesman and the finance guy *insisted* that we were not eligible for the $1,000 credit.

The salesman had a Ford page open on his PC that listed eligible and ineligible vehicles. The print was so small that I couldn't read it. He saw that the "Bronco SUV" was ineligible and said that referred to the BS(?!). I said that "Bronco SUV" sounded like the "big Bronco". Nope, he swore it was the BS.

I kept saying that I knew I had seen the BS listed as one of the vehicles, in several different places. They claimed I was mistaken.

Finally I got online and found a Ford website clearly listing the BS. Oddly, after they had been so adamant that the $1,000 credit did not apply, neither of them looked at what I had found!

It was as if they knew all along that the $1,000 credit did apply but just wanted me to find proof. Pretty strange.

That begs the question, is there some reason they would not want us to get the credit/incentive? If we had believed them and not pursued it, could the dealership have kept the $1,000?

Edit to add: The salesman really pushed FordPass. From what we were told, I thought it was just a helpful little app so we installed it at the dealer. Back home I saw an email from FordPass. I clicked on the "Privacy" link and found that FordPass enables Ford to collect all sorts of potentially damaging/incriminating data -- speed; G-forces; location; direction, etc. I just started a thread about it -- it's over in the technical section:

Thanks Delila!

Just to clarify, I know the BS qualifies for the $1,000 order credit, and it has for months. They ended up applying the $1,000 credit but I had to find proof online.

Something odd I failed to mention was that after they conceded that the order credit DID apply, they claimed that it was only for the Badlands! They said the other trim levels (Base, BB, OB) were ineligible! That's clearly not true. I had the Ford webpage open in front of me. It was really bizarre that they would contradict Ford.

If someone is going to lie, cheat, and steal, they should at least avoid lies that are demonstrably false.

Unbelievable.

Do you still ant me to contact you on Monday? DM? Phone?

Before I ordered mine, I talked to 8 dealers. Half of them included the $1000 and half did not. Either they were being deceitful, or they are incompetent. Neither one is a good look.

My dealer was great about this. The finance guy also caught that my paperwork had not applied the deposit I put down when ordering. It was rectified immediately. Something else to double check, especially since your dealer doesn’t seem to be ‘above board’.

Thanks!

Surprisingly, they did not play "hide the deposit" with our $500.

Good advice, assuming you can get someone helpful and polite.

I've called Ford at least 5 times. The hold times are often long and at least once -- after being on hold for about 1/2 hour -- I was cut off. Most of the time I got a CSR who clearly hated life (or at least their job). They were no help.

To be fair, I have spoken with 2 women who were very friendly and helpful -- one with Ford Credit, the other deals with the $500 incentives. They were both excellent.

At best it's hit or miss.

My thinking when buying the Badlands was to give the dealer a shot, and only call Ford if I had to. There were no MSRP increases between the order and build dates, so no issues there (sticker showed price we agreed to), and they did not try to add on any last-minute ADM -- so the primary issue was the $1,000 credit. Our debate over that only lasted until I found a Ford page that clearly listed ALL BS trim levels as eligible. Had they continued to refuse at that point, phone calls would have been made.

I try my best to be polite and friendly to CSRs. I know they have a tough job. Usually, they seem to appreciate it, but some of them -- not so much.

My wife teases me because occasionally I will get into a conversation with a CSR that is completely unrelated to the subject of the call. It may go on for 20-30 minutes sometimes.

I mention that by way of saying, if I say they were grumpy/rude -- they were. I'm fully aware that my problem or concern is not their fault -- and, you catch more flies with honey.

The poor attitudes are almost universal, as you said. I assume that they are not paid very much and get burnt out quickly.

Curious - where did you find the listing showing the $1000 Order Incentive? It is no longer in effect and I've been unable to locate info on previous incentives. I ordered 15 Feb 2022, the offer was definately on the Ford Web Page att.

Before you sign anything, have your dealer run a 'smart Vincent' report showing incentives available at the time of order. You can pick between incentives available at time of order or delivery/sale, but not both.

I just checked here and see no mention of the order credit:
https://www.ford.com/suvs/bronco-sport/pricing-and-incentives/
https://shop.ford.com/configure/broncosport/model/customize/base

Apparently Ford has more orders than they can handle and eliminated the credit.

As you said, the offer was valid when you ordered, so you should be able to get the $1,000 credit.

I'm not sure whether "Smart Vincent" has historical data. It *should*, I just don't know.

Another option might be to search here on the BS Forum (and others) for copies of the offer members copied & pasted months ago.

Your dealer knows full well your order qualifies, but if the experience my wife and I had is any guide, they may try to make you prove it.
