I've not bought a car in 5 years, so I'm rusty on and really, really hate the process. I'm a cash buyer, so I know there's less incentive to deal with me because they can't take me to the cleaners in the F&I office. With the market conditions the way they are I'm willing to pay MSRP because that is considerably below market price and I know they aren't making extra money off me from the financing. It's hard everywhere, and I want this dealership to succeed because they have been decent to me in the past. I'm hoping that MSRP plus buying some accessories through them will be enough to keep them as honest as a dealership can be. My main demands will be the incentive and a decent trade in price...anything I can do to lower the amount of tax I turn over for this idiot state to mismanage is good in my book.
That was one of the benefits of going through Granger even though they are 300 miles away. The whole process was great. They have earned my dollars for when I buy a Ford again. Just a pleasurable experience even before I actually signed the order paperwork.

I’ve been spoiled over the past 50 years since my father worked for Ford his entire career. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. I always bought direct when I ordered new Fords. Never a question about price. That never stopped the “Do you want scotchgard” or other dealer add on questions at the paperwork office. I have financed as well when it worked in my favor.

Ideally any applicable Ford and/or dealer incentives should be itemized on the invoice at the time you place the order, and signed by you, the salesperson, and the manager. In addition to Ford's order incentive, my dealer subtracted another $500 -- I'm not sure if that's another Ford program or something dealer-specific.

I got this in an email, just under a week after my order. Texted with my salesperson and she got the manager to honor it. Not sure exactly what the discount will be since it says “up to $3000” but I do know that $1000 of it is coming from Ford, based on our conversation and the fine print.

Both the salesman and the finance guy *insisted* that we were not eligible for the $1,000 credit.

The salesman had a Ford page open on his PC that listed eligible and ineligible vehicles. The print was so small that I couldn't read it. He saw that the "Bronco SUV" was ineligible and said that referred to the BS(?!). I said that "Bronco SUV" sounded like the "big Bronco". Nope, he swore it was the BS.

I kept saying that I knew I had seen the BS listed as one of the vehicles, in several different places. They claimed I was mistaken.

Finally I got online and found a Ford website clearly listing the BS. Oddly, after they had been so adamant that the $1,000 credit did not apply, neither of them looked at what I had found!

It was as if they knew all along that the $1,000 credit did apply but just wanted me to find proof. Pretty strange.

That begs the question, is there some reason they would not want us to get the credit/incentive? If we had believed them and not pursued it, could the dealership have kept the $1,000?
This exact thing happened to me, luckily I had taken a screenshot.
Edit: found the screenshot, it does state “ Bronco” excluded, Bronco Sport include

Huh.... I bought my BS a month ago and an incentive wasn't mentioned. I'm wondering if that went into the dealer's pocket, or if I'm owed a check from Ford. I haven't had any luck with my local dealer when I asked them about the various missing parts that I've discovered since the purchase, so I doubt that they'd be very helpful.

Looking at the incentives, I don't see anything that would apply unless the incentive has expired. I noted that the vet's incentive applies only within 24 months of separation. I guess 1987 is too long ago. :sunglasses:

*edit* I'm now clear on the incentive being applied to orders only. No need to keep quoting me and pointing this out, thanks!

My dealer tried pulling the same crap and said the rebate expired, and then tried acting like the “good guys” after I complained. Left them a very lukewarm review on Yelp.

It's usually listed on the dealership website. Just take a picture of it or print it out.
I checked their site, not there, but it's on Ford's site.

Did you custom order or buy it off the lot? The rebate is for a custom order. Incentive to buy from Ford rather than find something else on a competitor’s lot.

First time bought a vehicle at full MSRP and plus shipping costs; most "costly" vehicle in hubby's 80 years.

My dealer specifically told me about the $1000 incentive when I ordered it.

So, I was at a car dealer on Wednesday, trying to negotiate something.

There isn't much room these days, but I tried to wriggle a $55 set of wheel locks out of them to offset a BS $200 line item they added on. Salesman straight up told me they can't do that because parts department isn't open weekends.

Dealers will say a lot of things. They're so accustomed to lies and half-truths they just say them and then leave it on you to prove even what day of the week it is.

FWIW, I never got the wheel locks. You have to decide if you're willing to just pay another $1,000 for the car. Because if Ford says that money is on the table, someone is taking it.
