New Tires for Badlands

Hi:
My Bronco sport badlands with 35,000 miles is in for service for its 40,000 mile service. They said I need new tires (said at #3) whatever that means. I have 225/65 R17 A/T Tires which came with the car.
I wouldn’t mind them looking a bit cooler than these tires, but I want a tire that is smooth and not noisy. I do not do any off-roading- mostly highway miles and local. The dealer quoted me $1000 for basic tires. . Should I go with the same tires or better tires and if so, any suggestions?

Most Ford dealers will match other available tire deals. I like the optional Falkens if you can find them. If you have a discount tire available, you can do a search for your trim.

My local dealer will match any local price plus another 10% off. They are hard to beat if the tire is available through them.

You might want to see if you can purchase the same tires as on the 2025 Bronco Sport which is a (new) optional tire on certain ‘25 BS models

Its just abit taller than the tires you have now but it fits your Bronco

Do you have heavy snow and ice where you are? Would that be a concern when buying tires? Would you ever have any chance of going off road?

I'm in south Texas so I can't really speak about snow and ice but if you're doing just local and some highway, I'd look for a decent brand one that has good ratings on DiscountTire if that's near you. Consumer Reports lists Michelins as their top pick but for just basic tires, there are hundreds to choose from.

For me, just doing a quick search, it looks like Falken Pro G5 CSV ($158/each), Yokahama YK-CTX ($178/each), or Continental TrueContact Tour ($140/each) may be on my short list.

Someone else might be able to chime in on some road tires that would be good in the cold.

If you do plan to go off road, I'm kind of leaning towards the BFG Trail Terrains.

You can get the Falken Wildpeak AT3 235/65/17. They would have been the OEM upgraded tires for your BS. They have been replaced by the AT4 now so they run cheaper than they used to, and in the 235 size will look better but because they are OEM for the car be gentler on your MPG. It’s a great tire albeit it might not last 50k miles as some others might.

I replaced the stock Falken AT3's with AT4's, low road noise on both and very aggressive looking tread. The AT4's dropped my MPG about 1.5 MPG (8LBS heavier per tire)

If you don’t do off roading - mind you, driving in gravel and over some bumps around trails is not off roading….and you deal with snow/ice sometimes, you should consider the Michelin CrossClimate 2 and Goodyear WeatherAssurance 2 - they are both top rated all weather tires.

Unless you need the to pass the annual safety inspection. Pick the maker and model you want. Then ask your Ford dealer for:

1. Their best price
2. When is their next tire sale.

You are in Northern Virginia and their is a lot of competition for your business.

Thank you. They told me that they have a sale. It’s buy three and get one free. The same tire I have now -$1000 for four! The tire came with the car! I know it’s not a good price but as you said, ask for their best price.
