Actually my OEM Pirelli Scopions are that price. Like most OEM tires, they are a compromise and are great at a lot. That being said, they are a safe tire.

Doing a quick check on Discount Tires, most tires in the 235-65/17 are in the 150-200 range to give you some idea. Depends then on all the mounting, old tire fees, taxes etc they tack on per tire.

The optional Falkens are discounted to 147 but as others have said, not the best option for high milage use. I like them a lot for my use case. They are quiet but good in the rain and snow. I only put on 5-6k miles per year as I typically only use it in the winter months.

You need to buy street tires to meet these requirements “want a tire that is smooth and not noisy” —> I’d go all weather…that way you’ve got coverage during winter as well. Michelin CrossClimate 2 or Goodyear WeatherReady 2.

All the other tires people are talking about here OP will be all terrain - loud with 0 benefits to you, since you don’t do any sort of off roading at all, just like the majority of the owners…put proper street tires.

Maybe my hearing is failing with age, but the optional Falkens even though they are listed as AT tires don’t seem to give off much noise plus they are great in the snow and rain. I’m assuming since these were specifically designed to meet the Ford design request, reduced noise was one of the requirements. That being said, I’ve had neither of the tires you listed above on it to compare so I could be wrong.

Others were recommending AT4s and BFG all-terrains. So he’s right. Those would be absolutely the wrong tires for the original posters needs.

I just put Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires on my wife's Ecosport. Very happy with them, and I will be putting them on my '23 OBX before fall.

Subaru Forester, waiting for a BS Badlands with Sasquatch to be in stock.
There are two tires that I really like, the BFG K03 (but it won't be available in stock size until next year, the 235/65-R17 are available now though... or should be, they were scheduled for release last month), and the Falken AT4W.

The BFG are better on rocks, dry pavement, hard packed sand, and stop and accelerate better in deeper, loose, powdery snow. A little quieter on road and lighter.

The Falkens are better on wet pavement, and ice or packed snow (like happens when people drive on the snow and it gets packed down). They are a little better in mud but it's close, and about the same on sand.

So, kind of up to what driving do you do the most. For looks, I like the blocker look of the KO3s, but some like the Wildpeaks.

I have the Wildpeaks on my Forester and will probably change the Goodyears to them whenever Ford finishes building my BS, at the same time I change the wheels to Methods. But I live in Western Washington now, where we get like 8 months of constant drizzle, with a few weeks of snow, so it made the most sense. Even going off road means mud much of the year. If I still lived in Arlington or Springfield I'd probably flip a coin.

Check out the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT in 235/65/17. Put those on last fall and never thought I needed to swap to the snow tires. They're also lighter than the Falken AT4W, so mileage will be better. After some wear-in, I'm seeing 26+ MPG (per dashboard) on paved roads. They're also pretty quiet.

If you really liked the AT3W, Tire Rack has them in stock.

Had them put on my Badlands last week. They replaced the OEM Pirelli Scorpions.

Excellent performance so far. Absolutely no complaints.
