LOL, had one of those in the army, back in the 80's. Tried using it a couple times but it is so slow and cumbersome. Not a fan at all.

I'll fab up something...

Yes, I have one stored in my overhead cargo. Just know they are not quick, nor easy. But short of getting one of those odd wheel winches, kinda the best solution for the front end
I know if you get a nice brand they’re a great tool that almost certainly won’t have any issues, and there are tons of upsides for being able to recover from multiple directions, but standing next to a line under tension makes me itchy. Especially if it’s ME adding the tension

I’m not big on the idea of being cut in half with a large cheese wire either.

But I suppose an electric winch line could snap, come through the windshield and take your head off too. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø Just like anything else, the risk adds to the thrill of the experience šŸ˜‚

36 years in the army as a tank mechanic and recovery specialist, you think that line is dangerous, try recovering a 45ton leopard tank stuck turret depth (add 1/2 again) so 67.5 ton on a 2" line! I'd go hatches down for ones like that! LOL!!

This is why you don't buy the ones with wire cables, you buy the braided rope instead.

Something like the Winch2Go could be an interesting alternative; set an Anderson connector in the front bumper, hook it to the front tow hooks, and bobs your uncle. This particular one is only rated for 4000lbs so you’d need a snatch block, but I don’t don’t see why making your own would be that difficult with a box and some SendCutSend work and a heavier duty winch

Obviously a hard mounted winch would be preferred, but is this really that different than using a comealong?

I just thought of something…….the new Sasquatch package has the option for steel bumpers? Can those be fitted onto older Badlands models? Can a winch be attached to that new bumper?

Just steel PLATED, not actually solid steel bumpers. More like built in skid plates, still cool but won’t help us here

I don't see install instructions listed online for it, but from the images and the fact that it fits non-badlands models, it appears to only attach with the two face bolts on each side that any other manufacturer nudge bar attaches to
Just as info, no the Ford Ranger Lifts bull bar does not tie into where the the BadLands recovery hooks bolt into. There is no way it would support a winch or even a bump vs another vehicle. Looks great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not structural. Just another light bar. I’ve got it on a BigBend (wife) and a Rally Innovations on my Badlands.
I’m still looking for a good winch option, but ultimately I think it’s going to have to be a custom bumper solution, and I’m not ready for that spend.

I guess that is better than the front bumper cover I’ve destroyed three different times now. I was hoping that new option was a true bumper when I learned of it.

A few years ago I reached out to the people that fabricated the bumper in the pic below. I offered quite a bit of money but they refused to sell it or make me one.

I didn’t contact them, but after doing similar research I’m not surprised. There are some customs coming out of Mexico, but I’m not seeing the same activity in the US.

That bronco actually ended up in someone’s hands eventually, it’s still out there and looking sharp!
